115 KB 少女時代 aka Girls Generation/SNSD/Shoujo Jidai first Japanese single Anonymous 04/26/11(Tue)12:10 No.4393813
Already the world's #1 girl group, here is SNSD's Japanese original new single 'Mr Taxi' and it is HHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT :

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhseD2tRLUY

It is only the Dance version and the 'Regular' version will be released with the single drops on 4/27. Both of SNSD's singles that were translated to Japanese - "Genie" and "Gee" - went double-platinum (Sauce : RIAJ). How much higher will SNSD be in Japan with this original Japanese song?

Their legs look perfectly fine when they are being filmed at eye level. I am just commenting that the particular angle from below the stage makes them look a lot fatter than they actually are, and I am making a comment on how bad that angle is. What are you trying to get at?

Well I figured that was a given, it's the same aesthetic put forth by Hello! Project or AKB48 of selling a cutesy or sexy image over the music itself.

    >>4393952
Yeah, probably this as well, I'm more of an older rock and roll music type. About the only techno group I can think of that I actively listen to is Daft Punk. Still, even as far as dance or techno goes, this stuff is pretty boring and a bit too much on the bubblegum pop variety.

I'm just confused that this stuff is so popular out of nowhere in the past year when it's really no better than the Japanese labels throw out; and honestly most all of if reeks of the usual variety of Korean pop media trying to emulate Japan's.

because all the current kpop acts are based off of H.O.T., Shinhwa, S.E.S., Baby V.O.X., g.o.d. i mean if you like current kpop then go back in time and check out the stuff it's based off of.

also i'm biased. whenever someone says Taemin is such a great dancer it annoys me. Jang Woo Hyuk was on that shit long before Taemin could even turn. And Stephanie from CSJH The Grace can outdance those Miss A girls ANY day of the week.

Eh, they may not be doing too well, but I don't really think they're bad. They're way more talented than fucking Dal Shabet and Apink, but somehow those groups are managing to do well.

Most Koreans are put off by the over-the-top sexy image Rainia is putting out there. If you ignore that, though, Dr. Feel Good is actually a pretty good song.

Speaking of kpop, anyone have any opinions on the Korean weight ideals?

For example, SNSD are considered to have perfect bodies.. and I mean, they do.

But then girls like Secret are considered overwight.

I would LOVE to see them try to out dance Fei or Min.

I would also like to see any of them make a comeback now. Bada failed, Tony An's currently failing. Who's next?

I like Kpop, but what bothers me is the instrumentals on these tracks, and the way the song is sung. In american pop, the songs are distinct and usually even if the singer isn't the best the instrumental is godly enough where you like the song. The song is also written in a way the compliments the singer. Ke$ha is a good example of this. I could dance to Tik Tok without even listening to her voice. I know is a different industry over there, but I think company's should stop making generic songs that can be used by anyone, and start making songs that are unique to a group or singer.

I think this is one of the things holding Kpop back.

They've got the same pro-ana hivemind as the rest of East Asia. Tbh I wouldn't care so much that all the girls are thin if they'd lost the weight in a healthy way, but doing that builds muscle and muscle is unfeminine and ugly so they just starve themselves and surgically remove unsightly muscles. I really worry about idol groups getting calf reductions because that procedure makes it hard to walk, let alone dance in six inch heels.

who said they NEED to be fans? i'm saying it's worth it to check out older groups.

but yeah, to get a better appreciation for kpop as a whole, it doesn't really say much to me if your definition of kpop is just new groups. :\

    >>4396147
but kan mi yeon is doing really well. and lets not forget lee hyori was originally in Fin.K.L. and minwoo's ep charted well when it was released. i just want to see jang woo hyuk comeback honestly. and it's sad to me that no one checked out moon hee jun's latest releases. Toy had to have been one of the best songs i've ever heard.

Lee Hyori also debuted when they were still at least somewhat relevant.

And as for Minwoo, are you talking about Minnovation? Because I think I heard about that for maybe a day. The title track was the only worthwhile song.

to be honest it annoys me when people have this impression of kpop like it's this new thing. it's "so new" and people are like "ooh shiny."

but kpop has been around for such a long time it's just that people were ignoring it before. :\ and NOW they notice it.

it annoys me JUST a little.

This. I'm not exactly a huge fan of k-pop... (I was never into jrock or jpop, either. If music is good, I'll listen to it, regardless of where it came from.) But it saddens me a ton of my friends are suddenly seeing as the new fad because Jpop or Jrock got boring to them.

Even more amusing are these folks who accuse others of being weeaboos... wait...

yeah that's the thing that puzzles me most. jrock is so far removed from kpop. they're on such opposite ends of the spectrum. the only thing in common is that they're both... asian. i hate that that's the only thing i can bring up but it's true!!

OK so why do jrock fans suddenly like kpop? they're totally different music styles. i can understand switching from jrock to industrial, but going from dir en grey to taeyang is... a huge difference. :\

I just think its because they're both asian like you said. They found something new, and now they're obsessed with it. Personally I like both, but I think Japanese music has a lot more variety to it right now. I do think Koreans pick better singers for their boybands and girlbands though. Sometimes the Japanese don't even care if they can sing.

i guess what i'm wondering here is... usher, omarion, neyo, they all have similar styles to taeyang. or really i should say taeyang has similar styles to them. most western music does.

but i don't see the same interest or lust for american pop from kpop fans...? particularly former / current jrock fans.

    yeah, they're asian.

so really, based off of that, the reason jrock fans switched to kpop is... they think the guys are hot.

that's ok! nothing wrong with shallow reasons.

Basically. I found out about Kpop because I saw a hot group of guys and wanted to know more about them.

Yellow fever? I love american pop, and I don't understand why a lot of kpop fans don't like more of it either. I do know that asians have this sound to their voice that other races don't have for the most part, and that could be it. So I think it has to do with how the song is sung, the instrumental, and what the singers look like.
    >> Doll !L76VKgP3Fg 04/27/11(Wed)04:22 No.4396347

I hate to say it, but honestly? I think that's what it really boils down to. It's bizarre to walk into rooms and see a mishmash of Asian bands. And I'm always accused of thinking all Asians look alike because I mix the bands up. A ton of the fandom from Lolita have moved over from Japanese bands to kpop, too. It seems more about the cute boys than the music they're making.

Maybe it's because when it comes to music for me, I really don't give a crap who makes it, so long as it sounds good. I don't even have favorite bands in any genre.
