I'm still deciding, but I've narrowed it down to Seafoam Candy and Grape.

And my man just narrowed it down further and survey says Seafoam Candy. I'm not sure if I'll do a jsk or a skirt but I think I'll probably do a skirt.

I'm thinking I will try to fade it a bit so it's a softer blue too. I want something I can wear and won't really turn any heads until suddenly

"Hey wait...are those ponies on your skirt there....???"

Mmm yeah I will have a hard time deciding what to make.

Well no actually. If you had been around for the earlier threads, it was decided that since derpy-chan was a collective effort, no one would profit from it except a charity (I don't remember which one, if it was decided at all). You can charge and pay yourself for materials and labor, but anything beyond that should go to charity, and most of the crafters who said they were going to sell/do commissions said they would only pay themselves something like $5-$10/hr

Furthermore, you best believe that if anyone is found profiting from derpy-chan, there's going to be an almighty lynch mob ready to tar and frill a bitch.
    >> Anonymous 03/30/11(Wed)21:44 No.4301639
    >>4301633
Yeah, so I must have missed a thread in the middle, but that sounds fucking stupid. I want a quality derpy-chan JSK, and I can't imagine that anyone'd be willing to make them if they weren't going to make a profit.

Lol, I asked before, and I never got a response....How much is an average commission for a skirt and how much should I expect to pay for a derpy carnival skirt? I'd like to get one for novelty values sake, but I'd like to know how much I'd be looking at? I can't sew at allll.

Well, the general sentiment is that derpychan is just so awesome and we are ~united~ by our /cgl/ inside joke, it's the only thing that has melted our frilly cunt Lolita hearts, etc etc so in the name of the sisterhood, if you want to make skirts for others, then do so at cost. No one is forcing anyone to make skirts, and if you don't want to use seagull slave labor, buy some fabric and get a local seamstress to do it for you.

But it would take a seriously stone cold bitch to steal derpy-chan away in the night and peddle it like some common supermarket quarter-a-ride whore

which, by the way, sounds like an excellent idea for a derpy chan print.

I think someone mentioned red cross japan or just red cross in general. i don't remember exactly :( there was a discussion of having an etsy store where "approved" merch could be sold by multiple sellers together, there's an lj where I think they intend to post links to "legitimate" sellers, post news and show proof of donations and all that stuff. if you want to email anyone, email ai_honey since they have the lj set up, or better yet send a message to the person who set up the spoon flower since that's the person who's probably invested the most time and will remember these details. sorry i couldn't be more helpful

To be able to put fabric for sale on Spoonflower, they make you order swatches first. That way you can proof the color and print resolution -- so people don't end up selling stuff that didn't turn out how they intended.

Question for this thread. I know several people that love Derpy-chan and the designs, but they're not strictly into lolita fashion. I was thinking of opening wares with some artwork of Derpy-chan that were none lolita work, all profits strictly going to local charities. Would there be any objections to that or would the collective voice prefer Derpy-chan to remain strictly lolita fashions?

I mostly just want to avoid potentially stepping on any toes with this.

Honestly I would love some toned down, more subtle Derpy prints. Maybe some regular all-over-type prints with Derpy-chans sprinkled around in it.

    I love you derpy-chan

I've been a /cgl/ and loli lurker for years, I don't own any loli pieces, but I really want a derpy-chan jsk to start my collection...is that weird?

And would would be the best to commission for a good piece?

I think you missed where I asked for that specific image to be done. Not the white background part. Just the cross, and the bats and Derpy. I can't do much in the ways of art, so I can't take an image from the colorways and pull the background color off of it. I want to screenprint that image onto shirts, because I know people who aren't sweets that want a shirt that doesn't have the rainbow on it.

I tweaked the cream x brown classical print slightly. Looking at it, I want to order 1 yard for making something small (like bloomers or a camisole), but the price is making me wince. Sorry, I'm a poorfag. I'd been unemployed for two years and got a new job recently, but my first paycheck won't be in until end of this month.

General consensus is the cotton sateen. The cheapest option (quilting cotton) is okay for trims or small parts of a project.

Personally, because of the steep prices, I'll be going for quilting cotton. But I plan to make some Derp Horse nightgowns, nothing I'll be wearing in public so fabric quality isn't a important.
    >> Anonymous 04/05/11(Tue)21:10 No.4323585

I've been watching these Derp Horse threads from afar, but now it's got me thinking...

I usually make and sell simple classic lolita skirts on Etsy in solids with a few tastefull florals thrown in. If I actually make a few Derp Horse skirts, would people actually buy them? Or is this one of those things were people just go 'oh, cool idea!' but never purchase? Or, they make the skirts themselves?

Also, what would be a good price for a good quality, surged, seamed, lined and finished Derp Skirt?
