32 KB Anime Matsuri compared to Akon Anonymous 03/05/11(Sat)12:48 No.4205485
I apologize if this doesn't belong on /cgl/ (my home here is /c/ so I don't know much about other boards), but is Houston's Anime Matsuri a good con? I'm sadly not much of a con goer; I've only really gone to Dallas's Akon (which I've enjoyed) every other year for like the past 6 years.

I've been invited to go with a few good friends and was just wondering how AM compares to Akon. I'm especially interested in how the Dealer's rooms, game rooms, and the general level of cosplay compare.

Is /cgl/ the place to ask this or is this more suited to /jp/, maybe?

If you're going just for the dealer room then you're gonna be disappointed. They are MASSSSSSSSSSSSSIVELY scaling it back this year as they only have around 12 dealers. The whole con this year looks like it'll be about concerts, raves, fashion show, cosplay, car shows & arcade.

I went last year and had a really good time, but this year sounds like it's ... a bit of an experiment. Lots of changes to both the way things are running, and the events.

Honestly, I'm a little peeved about some of the changes (particularly the venue), but I'm willing to give it a chance and see how things go.

Dude, nothing is suited to /jp/...leave that shithole the fuck alone and you'll be so much better off.

Sage for no personal knowledge of this con.

That sounds disappointing. Could you please provide a link to a source? Is the general level of cosplay good, though?

My home here is /c/. I'm on /cgl/ as a humble visitor. I don't go anywhere else if I don't have to.
