Hey /cgl/, I'm visiting Tokyo this month. I'm not really a landmark person or into super touristy places. Do you have any recommendations for any lolita-themed places (I'm planning on visiting some of the Diamond Dining cafes) or just crazy things I HAVE to see, not necessary lolita related?

OP, if you're into the juxtaposition of ancient and modern...check out Togo Shrine, which is in the middle of Harajuku, right off of Omotesandou. there's a lovely pond with stone lanterns and skyscrapers in the background. it's pretty small, but surprisingly quiet amidst the hustle and bustle.

I've been researching this a bit, because I'm going myself in May! (all suggestions are based on web research, haven't been myself yet).

Sumire no Tenmado, a lolita cafe in the Golden Gai district run by Sachi and Yuka of Kokusyoku Sumire: http://www.kokusyokusumire.net/tenmado/

The Maria Cuore doll museum in Shibuya which looks fabulous if you're into the gothic/creepy side of things. Sounds like it might be a bit small, but apparently the presentation is awesome, and a bunch of the dolls in their collection have been featured in GLBs.

If you're in Tokyo on March 13, there's a Gothic & Lolita live salon being run by Artism, who publish the Alamode magazines: http://artism.jp/

No problem, OP. I used to watch this guy's videos ALL the time. He has so many great reviews to the places the nooks and crannies of Tokyo - there are even places for Westerners to hang out with other Westerners (international building ,certain pubs, and a sort of a "French Quarter" or "Petit Paris"). In one of the videos (I think it was the ice cream city one) he talks of a tourist bureau that has all of the events that come up around Tokyo and they're worth checking out.
/int/ is a slow board, but there should be a sticky about traveling within Japan.

The area of Harajuku bridge and the temple near by isn't really worth going to anymore since it's overrun by tourists (and ita-lolis). It seems like everyone else is hanging out in trendier places like Shibuya.
