I
was specifically trying not to lump Gravitation and BL shows together
with Hetalia, because Hetalia doesn't sell itself on BL alone;
primarily, Hetalia is a humor show, not a BL show. If you'd actually
read my post, this is what you would've seen:
>And
then you have straight up BL/GL shows like Strawberry Panic and Gakuen
Heaven. Those shows aren't doing anybody harm either.
Gravitation
is one such BL show. You don't watch Gravitation unless you've checked
your sexual security beforehand. But with Hetalia, it isn't until you
actually start watching it that you see the obvious gay.
Besides, it's not like the characters represent any real person, thing, or entity!

Concerning
Ouran, they actually make fun of yaoi fangirls throughout the entire
story. It's a fucking host club; they're not actually homo. They're just
pretending to homo for the sake of taking the fangirls' money. As far
as I'm concerned, it's a story about a bunch of players who start
falling for one girl. And even if they were homo, it's not like the
characters represent any real person, thing, or entity!
How is
that... in any way, shape, or form... even remotely similar to Hetalia,
which is an anime where the countries are actually gay for each other,
are meant to represent entire groups of people, and... they're also
babies in the chibitalia section! GAY BABIES! Gay babies that are meant
to represent entire countries. That's totally the same thing as a story
about six wealthy school-aged player prettyboys and a cross-dressing
girl, right? |
