Hey /cgl/. /k/ here. Some of us need a place to crash until 9/11 blows over. Hope you don't mind.

So... how's it going? Been to any... cons... lately? /k/ has cons too, but we call them 'gun shows'. The people are just as retarded and emotionally stunted. You'd be suprised, really, at how much our boards have in common.

Right. Well, hope you don't mind the intrusion. We won't stay long. How are things? Any... gossip... or whatever?

I've never actually been to a gun show, but I've been to a few knife shows. I imagine they're the same?

    How's life?

    Hi!

I can't really say... I've never been to a knife show! But gun shows are generally heaving masses of fat, paranoid Bush-voters charging way too much for mediocre firearms and ammunition to obsessive-compulsive neckbeards in tactical gear. Sprinkled in that shit-fest are a few normal people who just like shooting sports and collecting neat old guns.

Is a knife show anything like that?
    >> Anonymous 09/11/10(Sat)02:05 No.3532116
    >>3532092

Pretty much, yeah, though around here it's more really old Native American guys selling pelts and Native-made knives. Then there's the WW2 vets that sit around and shoot the breeze with each other while selling the bayonets they stole from the Germans they killed, and usually the wall areas of the selling floor are reserved for museum-quality historical knife displays from around the world.

    Shit's actually pretty neat.
    >> Raito Sonozaki !!4OUCVHhUOgB 09/11/10(Sat)02:05 No.3532118
Believe it or not, i used to go with my granddad to the gunshows in my area. I loved them, because of the kickass weaponry they had, not only guns. The knives, the swords, etc.
Ohgod, I wanted almost every last one of them.

OK... this is a bit of a reach across the table, but is anyone here into this?

/k/ gets a kick out of it. I doubt if it's something that, like, you could cosplay or whatever. But you never know.

    Yeah!

A .357 magnum is actually a good choice for a first revolver. It does have a bit of recoil-- but get this: You can safely load and fire .38 special cartridges in a .357 revolver, and be able to practice with a less-expenive, less-recoil-ey cartridge.

    Kinda cool, I think.

Most, if not all, six-shooters are legal in Canada, I am sure. It's just the large-caliber, semi-auto things that your commonwealth frowns upon. Revolvers are cheap and fun to use, and there is really something for everyone. You can go for a cheap Brazilian Taurus revolver, or a more expensive American Smith & Wesson revolver. A good target shooting/fun caliber would be .38 Special or .357 Magnum. The guns are plentiful and the ammo is plentiful and relatively cheap.

But yeah, you can shoot .38 Special in .357 Magnum guns no problem. They are actually the same cartridge except the .357 Magnum is a little bit longer than the .38, so you can shoot the .38 in a .357 revolver, but not vice versa.

A Mosin Nagant. Also known as a Dragoon in some variations.

The earlier ones, the Infantry M91s were about three inches longer. Total length of about four and a half feet. In comparison, a collapsed M4 carbine is two and a half.

But if you don't mind a slight anachronism, M91/30's, the WW2 rifle, look close enough for government work. And /k/ would be the only people to care. And you can get a good one for about 150

I want one. .454 Casul is to .45 Long Colt as .357 Magnum is to .38 Special. It's an up-powered classic.

Would it work in a semi-automatic like Alucard has? Not really, the AMT Automag showed that. If you could get a Desert Eagle custom made for that, I'd buy it, though. It's a beautiful round. Ridiculously powerful for anything smaller than Leroy Brown (Baddest man in the whole damn town) or Russian Boar (Oh fucking god angry pig).

Ceras's shit is obviously ridiculous. Closest thing to the Harkonnen would be the South African Anti-Tank rifle that the Halo Sniper Rifle is based off of, can't recall the name. Badass, though.

A Mosin-Nagant M-91 long rifle with the rear sight marked in Arshinii and blade front sight.
They're rather uncommon these days, as the Soviets upgraded them in the 1920's with Konavalov curved rear sights calibrated in Meters.

They can be pretty pricey in that particular configuration, depending on condition.

And an M1A (modern civilian M14) is fairly low on my "I'm gonna get this" list. In the meantime, I'll see if I can rouse cosplayers with a shotgun.
