I'm thinking of putting together a panel for Kollision Con. Don't know what to do yet, but I'm very decent on the eyes and I have mad multimedia presentation skills.

What are hands-down the best fan-made panels /cgl/ has been to?

I keep hearing alot about Big Swords Panel, but when I watch their youtube videos, I get creeped out at their antics.

Final Fantasy Panels are always packed where we go.
Trivia, if you don't mind having tons and tons of questions.
Maybe a clip show if you enjoy violence in anime.

Hell, there was a Sentai panel that was pretty good a few cons back.

If you do trivia, make sure to bring lots of prizes (nothing too expensive, maybe $5 or $3 prints, posters, and statues. Hell, bring lots of swag to any panel, it'll keep people from leaving.

Also, maybe a banner or decoration for the table. Something to catch attention.

hadn't heard bout kolision con, just googled it. looks decent for a 1st time con.

as for your panel question, I found this: http://kollisioncon.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=145

i can see that having standing room only.

but like the previous poster said, I second funny youtube shit.

Is there a better place to ask this question?
    >> Anonymous 09/08/10(Wed)15:11 No.3522133
Making panels are easy. Actually planning them is harder. Pick a good interactive subject and learn to be a good speaker. Like most cosplay skits, people put on shitty panels because they throw some shit together at the last minute then do a terrible job.

If you're still clueless then steal a good panel idea then exploit it.

The Dubs that Time Forgot and Anime Hell are my two favorite pannels.

    This is awesome advice!

I have a question. What should be the goal of a good panel? Just entertain an audience?
    >> Anonymous 09/08/10(Wed)15:19 No.3522157
    >>3522144
Yes, it is better to entertain. I've put on informative panels but they don't go over well because people aren't really there to learn. They want to laugh, have fun and have a good time. Just prepare and bring something interesting to the table.

Listen to me. Listen. I'm serious.
Never. Never. NEVER do a panel that is just discussion between yourself and whoever is doing the panel with you.
Or just you talking the whole time if you're doing it alone.
You'd think this would be common sense, but people do it.

I went to the King of Fighters panel at AnimeNEXT last year and all the hosts did was talk to each other 'in character'.
(Air quotes because even so, an Iori cosplayer talking about how sexy he is is not in character.)
It was a travesty. LEARN FROM MY PAIN.

have standing room only? That sounds more like a lecture...

    This.

Did anybody from /cgl/ go to Last Comic Standing at AX? It always gets positive buzz on convention forms but the fact that it was tripfaged ran makes me a bit iffy on its quality. I only mention it on this thread cause it seemed to be the go to event this year.
    >> Anonymous 09/09/10(Thu)00:22 No.3524070

Went there twice. First year, near the end, it was pretty funny. This year, it felt a little iffy since I now knew it was mostly tripfags there.
A lot of the times, I didn't find things funny since I prefer witty puns over sex jokes.
