It's pretty ugly. Even nice looking pieces are ugly. It's just...as nice as it can look for being so ugly.

I think there's probably something mentally wrong with you if you do that to yourself. That's way beyond a piercing or a tattoo.

Gotta agree with >>3521153. I have to assume there's some kind of neurosis driving the desire to do something like this to your body.

Or, perhaps I'm just totally out of touch with this generation, I'd believe either one. Do whatever you want, it's your body, but I reserve the right to be horrified by the result.

it's generally called scarification (with or without skin removal), not 'body carving', what the hell. there's branding, also.
i don't see how getting it done indicates neurosis more than having your baby daughter's ear pierced with a gun or getting a boob job...
i personally love it in theory. then again i find scars in general fascinating.
the issue is rather the unpredictability of the result. chances are the scars will be uneven, obscuring/blurring the motif, or you might even suffer from keloids. some people want keloids, but they're pretty much impossible to control. some people have to get surgery to remove them cause they can impair movement depending on their size & placement...
so yeah. lovely idea, difficult to put into effect nicely.

what does this have to do with cosplay/lolita again?

The thing about scarification is, though, that now kids are becoming more aware of it and thinks it's cute to carve sketchy looking roses and hearts and razor blade shapes and shit into their hips/hands/legs, and it just ends up fading to something damn near invisible because all they did was scratch just enough to see red.

On another note, I think something like this would be cute. Who says all scarification has to be like OP?

Infections? Why? If you know what you are doing and pratice good aftercare you won't get infections. I used to be very active in the bod mod community and had everything from full-sleeve tattoos, dozens of piercings, few brandings and scarification. Nevr got an infection from them. Only infection I ever got? When I was a teen and got my ears pierced at a jewellery shop with one of these criminal piercing guns (cause my mom didn't trust pro piercers, as the jewellery shop looked had a posher and "cleaner" image, ugh). Looking back obviously, their suggested aftercare was guaranteed to give me an infection.

Personally, I believe scars are only awesome/cool/sexy if there's a real tale behind them.

Most of these carvings really don't look like there's an awesome story behind them, as in, most just look like "ir get pretty bcause of scaring".

My respect for the human body far exceeds my respect for bodymods, so to say.

Not to knock you or anything. But you do realize people said and STILL say the same thing about tattoos?

Not talking about you but why in the heck would anyone want to put INK in their body. Draw a picture and frame it on your wall if you freaking like it so much.
Want to express yourself? There are these things called words. Although you do have to be smart enough to convey what you mean to say. Which might be the connection between tattoos and the people who get them.

How would you go about asking a tattoo artist to train you? Any reccomendations of particular subjects or styles to add to your portfolio?

I currently have some portraits (realistic), and drawings of flowers and stuff(semi-realistic)

I'd need to be on drugs in order to do something like this. A lot of them.

There's something like this except where they burn the skin and it leaves a raised scar - so its just about the same. They put a small piece of metal under your skin and heat it up, producing the line. Either ways are risky, since no one is ever sure how the skin is going to "take" the scar. It could end up horrendous, it could end up pretty...I don't think its truly worth it, but whatever floats your boat.

It makes me wonder. I was planning a whole tattoo sleeve for my left arm, but what are the views of cosplayers with such things? I mean, it'd be hard to cover up the whole arm, and not every character has long sleeves.
Whatevs. Just more nerd points I guess.

yea... I'm super accident prone, so I once leaned against a frying pan while it was cooking something and didn't notice.... until part of the skin on my elbow came off. The healing process on that one was horrible seeing as how I was in school at the time and everyone would knock into my arm going from class to class. How you can avoid the pain of everything while it's healing is insane... D:

don't get me wrong... some of these are amazing and make me want one, but ho God. Infection, removal of skin that deep....

I'm so glad you people love your bodies enough to carve em up. WHAT ARE YOU GONNA TELL YOUR KIDS?

"Mommy had a man cut her up so she could look neat!"?

buncha retardation these days. You kids are unappreciative, lemme tell you.
