OP here. Its the sort of scenester-ism stuff that seems weird to me. Shit that I thought was just a few people having a good time on weekends, turns out to be something that a network of people in hotels all over place take VERY seriously and have all of these complex opinions on with all these social ramifications.

Theres a lot of high school pettiness by people who obviously put a lot of thought into what theyre into. Seems dichotomous.

Not to mention that the thing youre into is still pretty weird. That thread about "leaving lolita"? So theres people who dress like that all the time? Woah. Freud, all day. Not to mention expense and effort.

Eh, people grow out of it. Anime draws a lot of retarded, offbeat kids who think it's an excuse to do whatever they want because in the anime fantasy world characters do whatever they want. But you get a lot of older people that don't watch anime anymore and just go to cons to hang out with out-of-state friends they made years ago. You get weird people, and you get pretty normal people too. It's just that people don't notice the latter too much because they attract very little attention next to the ridiculous ones.

This is the weirdest of the weird boards.

As a side note, up until this thread I've always thought /sp/ was a spelling board and was genuinely confused as to why the fuck we would need one of those.
