I deal with drunken arseholes slurring things like 'WHEN DO I GET TO SING'

I'm a Mobile DJ, so I also do Karaoke - do these stupid fucks not understand that, if I'm working a karaoke night in a busy pub, you're not the only one who put in a karaoke slip?

Also dealing with drunken slags going 'OH MY GOD, CAN I SAY SOMETHING O NTHE MICROPHONE!?'

No you fucking slut, that thing cost more than your outfit, and if you try and pick it up, I will remove it from your hands, then make sure I don't get you up to sing.

Seriously, if any of you guys go out to karaoke nights and get drunk - don't fucking hassle the DJ.

I'm currently unemployed because I took an extended vacation to California, but I have a temporary job lined up as soon as I get and I intend to look for something more permanent.

I worked at Hooters as a waitress from August 2007 until June 2010. Not fun. I may go back for weekends though eventually, since it's quick and easy money, even if it is frustrating.

I also worked as an Enumerator for the Census Bureau during the Census from April 2010 until June 2010. There were times when a nice person made my day by offering me a bottled water. Other times it made me angry because people would threaten me or slam the door right in my face before I could get a word in. Overall I liked it and will most definitely do it again ten years from now.

I'm volunteering for the Maryland elections, which I've done since high school and love. This time I qualify for a higher up position, which means more pay. Hooray!

I also hope I can get another job at the Census Bureau while still going to school. I feel it's a good job and it's away from the restaurant business I've been involved with for nearly six years now.

Kay I'm done rambling. Have Uboa blowing a vuvuzela to make up for it.

I currently work at a medical record storage facility. For $10 an hour, 10 hours a day (9am - 7pm), 2 days a week (Saturday and Sunday), I get to sit alone in a back room, going through large boxes, taking out 20% of the medical record files, and quality image checking all of them.

Basically that means I stare at a computer screen, open up the matching file, and go through each page matching the page to the one on the screen, watching out for duplicate images, blank images, crumples/folds, missed images, etc. Once 20% of a box is done, I slap a sticker on it, carry it out into the connecting room, stack it up, and repeat the process.

There's nothing but me, my music, and security cameras.

Of course I used to work 40 hours a week-- 9am to 3pm Mon - Fri and 9am to 7pm on Sat-- when I had a contract through the company at a hospital... I had this contract for 5 years, but then the hospital went broke and cut all of the "unnecessary" jobs and contracts, me included. The company I was working for then fucked me over saying that I couldn't make up my lost hours at the storage facility, giving me 10 hours on Sunday for a grand total of 20 hours a week.

With bi-weekly paychecks, 20 hours a week, and $10 an hour, I get around $375 every two weeks. Because that TOTALLY helps me pay my college tuition, car insurance, gas, living expenses, etc.

I work at a tech support call center, but what I do involves no phones whatsoever, so shit is pretty cash. I deal with trademark infringement complaints on web advertising for "a software giant" on their search engine (Hint: it's not Google, Yahoo or uh... Netscape)
It's actually more fun than it sounds as we have about 20 windows open on 2 monitors at any given time- proprietary tools, search engine, resources, email. Allowed to use iPods at work. Pay is shit but there is a lot of opportunity for advancement while I work toward getting back into my real career, which is CAD drafting and 3D viz for architecture.

I'm a host coordinator at a restaurant located on Disney property, but owned by a third-party. So basically, I get free park admission while not having to slave away on minimum wage. It's a recession-proof job, pays way more than it should, and lets me chit-chat with all sorts of interesting travelers, as well as fuck up the dinner plans of assholes.

I'm getting a nursing degree, but this is a job I'd stay at one day a week for the rest of my life just for the pure lulz.

Research Assistant. The wage was salary based and the doctor in charge of the project loved having me work long days. Up to and beyond 12 hours. Sometimes without a break of any sort and certainly without a luxury like lunch. Every time something went wrong, he pinned it on me, whether I was within a 50 mile radius of the incident or not. He would get pissed if I didn't want to be around during the weekend to receive text messages from him at 8 on a Saturday morning telling me to operate on dead mice by myself. He rarely followed animal treatment protocol anyway. He had me yell at the guys in IT for being stupid and openly stated that he could get just about whoever he wanted in the entire gaddamn hospital fired simply because they pissed him off.

Just gave my two weeks notice. The doctor canceled the position entirely meaning I wasn't fired, but I can't work. We had it out for more than an hour and a half. He said I was inept and stupid, I was raised wrong (in a single parent household), that I was a concern (not a threat, which is such a strong word!) to the safety of the project and lied to him about my total lack of interest in CANCER RESEARCH, that I was working the position exclusively for money at less than $27k a year and the only reason he gave me a couple compliments was because it was obvious I had no self esteem. He then said that I should stop fucking embarrassing myself for trying to work an extra two weeks and that I would be denied two weeks of unemployment benefits.

The last thing he said to me was that he wish things had ended better between the two of us. I said the same and left.

Medical Dispatch Call Center Coordinator/IT Person.

All female after hours call center. I think the last male employee we had in our end was like, 3 years ago. There's ONE guy working in the AM office, but eh.
I basically tell Nurses what to do/where to go, deal with the clients over the phone, and then 2/4 shifts I'm IT to the nurses/personal support workers when their phones/Black berries stop working/do something wrong. Gotta love being paid 18$ an hour to tell people where to go and use a computer.

Working just under 24 hours a week, usually 2-4 times a week.
IT part pays 14$ an hour, but it's worth it. I have money for stuff I want and never have to worry about being too poor for burando/fabric/conventions.

I also enjoy being able to sleep till noon to go to work for 430 on weekdays. <3

Unemployment...and I shouldn't be either. Thanks to the fucking economy, and bullshit things like "My Computer Career", what used to net me $35 an hour for 3 or 6 month contracts I now have to fight to get over $15. Why? Because when people found out how much techs with experience, certifications, and training had, they went "I WANT THAT!" and now the market is filled with nothing but trained monkeys that work for half of what trained techs would take.

Considering a career change but after doing this for 8 years, plus secret clearance, plus MCSE/CCNA/A+, plus 4 years of USMC experience with the computer tech side of things, it's a little late to be going back to square one.

Just had an interview today for tier two, was offered $10...that's nothing short of insulting, but the interviewer said "I could hire any other guy with less qualifications to do the same job for cheaper". So, fuck the IT field right now.

I'm a contract animator at an educational software company. Decent pay, nice company, and I get to draw all day. Most of the material is pretty dry and sciency. There's very little character animation which is kind of a bummer because that's the fun stuff. I love that shit.

It's been a decent gig so far but the publisher we're working with has no concept of time management and is a fickle bitch (no surprise), so we've had to bust our asses to put out a retarded amount of content in a retarded amount of time. Oh, and then they decided that we didn't have the budget for 3/4 of the art team. That was fantastic.

I work at a ritzy country club as a banquet server. What I basically do is move furniture (set-up event/tables, chairs, linen, silverware), I move more furniture than you can imagine, work the event (serve food/drink) and then clear/clean up the room and reset for next event. I also get to wear either black and whites (white shirt, black tie, black slacks) or a cotton polo with black slacks (khaki shorts if I'm working an event down at the pool)

Our big business is in weddings/receptions and golf outings.
Its a pretty decent job, the manager is nice, but there is so much drama and rumors going on in the kitchen that it makes you want to punch babies, and my one 'captain' is an old wrinkly bitch that makes me want to push her down the stairs.

I get paid $8/hr plus a monthly tip check which is usually around 3-600$ depending on the event we had and how many hours I work per month (no health insurance either). I usually work anywhere from 4 to 12 hours a day, and when scheduled there is no set time off.

All you receive is what time you come in, you could be there all night. We usually say don't make plans or at least 2 hours after the event ends IF it has a set time originally.

The only reason why I have this job is because I used to work as a residential computer technician (40/hr weeks $10/hr, cheap health insurance) for a small company that due to economic reasons last winter I was laid off. Couple months of shitty unemployment I landed the country club and have been there for a year.

I'm a software engineer at a company most people haven't heard of. It's a weird combination of forms and documents and design specs combined with free-wheeling tech work and the occasional nerf gun fight in the office. It's slightly safer than IT because companies have tried and failed many times to farm out work to places like India; turns out you can train IT in people who are smart but don't really have the talent/desire, but programming just seems to need slightly more spark. So my job's not going to Hyderabad for a bit longer at least.

LOL (not really, more like "bawww")

That was my exact job last summer. It only lasted a few months, because my boss was a moron who couldn't keep up with my hours and decided I wasn't worth it. The contract was supposed to be renewed but when I pressed him about it he dodged the question until like the last week when he was "we need your computer back". I REALLY wanted that job, and went out of my way and above and beyond.

It was absolutely the most soul crushing moment in my life and I still blame him for everything wrong in my life. It took months for me to want to draw again and I'm still no where near as productive as I used to be.

Now working part time at a Grocery Store. I hate my life.
