but in all srs i'm really familiar with taxidermy and taxidermists and i've already mulled around the idea of making my own prototype at least. horse hooves are just notoriously hard to come by since there are no horse slaughterhouses in the USA anymore. people only kill horses if they're lame or strikers now, which i guess it good for the horses.
if i had two pairs i could at least make a realistic cast for them. i don't know what other kind of hooves besides zebra i could use.

chances are i'm just going to have to shell out $100 for a pair of zebra hooves i see up on someone's website. i'd have to carve out the leg and bones though.. going to suck.

i have! i love rouge taxidermy(i would love to make a kirin out of a stillborn goat) and i follow her etsy because she occasionally puts out things for really good deals. even if you aren't into mounting animals themselves, she has a lot of craft items as well.
the furhideandbone community on LJ is a great place for deals too. i got sparrow skull and a big box of dog/coyote bones for crafting for only about $10. the community is full of 'scavengers' so the majority of the sales there are from things that are found. a number of people make their own jewelery too.

i've made a pair of crow feet earrings before, as well as other bird ones. crow feet are long gone though since its super illegal to sell them(or even pick up crow feathers/parts unless you hunted them within their season). unfortunately i've lost a lot of finds due to laws and regulations so it wouldn't have mattered if i found it dead or not.
