This, pretty much. I'm a lolita, and lolitas are (admittedly) very drama-whorey on here. Shit, I'd be lying if I said I regularly check cgl for anything but lolita drama mots of the time. Some of my local lolita group was/is regularly bashed, even, so it has a bad rep amongst my local lolita group. Every time /cgl/ is brought up with my local lolita group, it's spoken with a lot of negativity and disdain. To admit that I regularly browse here would be lolita-social suicide for me.
Like, even if you explain to them that you don't bash anyone, you just come on here for tutorials or whatever, chances are they won't believe you and will write you off as a bitch. It's pretty much a lose-lose, so I just keep my mouth shut whenever /cgl/ is brought up with my lolita group.
I don't have many friends that cosplay, but I don't talk to cosplayers about it either. I dunno, I generally think it's bad to tell anyone that you're on here regularly. Tripfags I have no problems with though. Most of the ones I've met/talked to so far are really nice.

I think one of my greatest pet peeves is if I'm at a con and people start talking about /cgl/. Well, I've told my girlfriend that I go on this board almost daily and she doesn't care or anything, and a few of my friends know and nobody cares. At first it was actually for the cosplay, but now it's just because it's one of the most hilarious and easily trolled boards I've ever seen.
