I was just wondering. Has anyone who ever ordered from them ever gotten their order on time?
You would think that for one of the most expensive and high profile cosplay commissioners, that they would be able to at least get a few orders done on time, but from that I hear, no one gets their costume done by the due date they set.
    >> Anonymous 05/21/10(Fri)15:37 No.2983237
Okay, has anyone ordered from Limebarb at all?
    >> Anonymous 05/21/10(Fri)15:38 No.2983241
    Very mixed reviews.

Has a hard time meeting deadlines, etc...

Try god save the queen fashions. Maybe as expensive as Limebarb, but much higher quality and is much better at keeping deadlines.

The more difficult a costume is, the less likely it's going to fit, that's all I'm saying.

She made me some shoulder-length gloves that, the entire way up, were the width of my wrist, and I was about 105 lbs at the time, not a fatty at all.
    >> Anonymous 05/21/10(Fri)20:56 No.2984402

Cosplay1, I would say they are on par craft wise, but GSTQ does more intricate shit while C1 is awesome for simple shit that you don't want to complicate yourself with and very reasonable.

Got to disagree here. GSTQ has done a couple of costumes for me and always had them early or right on time. I'd also say she's not twice as expensive as limebarb, either. She's on part price-wise, but if you're looking for very detailed, intricate stuff, yes, it's going to cost more because she does it right.

I ordered something from Limebarb that was supposed to have arrived yesterday, but I am a little more forgiving for this right now because Barb was trapped in London during the volcano thing recently, and now she just had her wisdom teeth removed.
So, when unavoidable things like that happen, I understand. I do hope the costume gets here soonish though.

You're also talking shit work versus good work. Of course you're going to pay more for Cathy's skills because she has people who work with the materials assist her in making them.

Your Kuja by Cathy turned out fantastic. I doubt Barb could have made that.

So lets say GSTQ lowest price and LB price there is only a $275 difference. Her break down seems a bit more professional too. Did you post the screen cap to support or discredit what >>2984720 said.

Also even though she missed two of the deadlines, How much was it by? What did she do to compensate you? Didn't you post a few times about receiving stuff from her and liking it. As someone who gets commissions if I know the person tends to run late I order it much earlier so then I have a better chance of getting it on time. First time shame on her, second time shame on you for not learning from the first time.
    >> Ukraine 05/22/10(Sat)00:01 No.2985056
Mentioned this before but I'll put my 2cents again.

Ordered a Vampire Knight costume back in 08 for Katsucon. My friend had ordered a Yuffie costume from her and she did a wonderful job, shipped everything in on time and everything. So we ordered from her (this being my first costume). Missed her deadline by a month and we just barely got our costumes a week or two before the con.

Nothing fit right. Sleeves were really tight, the jacket was huge, skirt was huge. But I wore it anyway. Since that experience I've never commissioned a costume again and just learned to sew myself.

4ng- that's not twice as expensive. It's about 400-600 more expensive for better quality work.
    >> Matador !h1AX9e4Y1Q 05/22/10(Sat)00:06 No.2985073
I've ordered two costumes from her with a third in the works. One of them was INSANELY complicated. Not only did Cathy do it on time, but she updated me on it and sat down to go over details.

The second was less complicated, but equally well done AND she took it in for me when I came to pick it up and the pants were a bit big.

Her work is just amazing and I can't tell you how professional she is, how she listens to what you have to say and works with you.

I have never ordered from Barb, but a friend of mine did. She got the Integra costume on Barb's site. That is one of the main reasons I will never order from Limebarb =/

...math isn't your thing is it? At top price, because honestly, lets face it, that would be final price, the difference is $745...that's enough for me, IMO, to say double.

    >>2985053

The deadlines were missed by, close to a month on each. No compensation. There wasn't a rush for either of the costumes, but a date was set...so it's not something that bothers me, but it's something people should be aware of. Also, I never brought up quality in any of my posts...I'm not going to deny she's good...I just laid out pricing and timing information.

I'm just here relaying my experiences with both. No opinion...pure facts. Take it how you will.

Well if that's the case I can find someone on ebay who will do it for HALF the price LB does it. I'm just saying. So maybe Barbs prices are also inflated. Why do I need to pay Barb 1200, when I can pay a chick in china $200 for the same costume. Oh wait cause LB might have better quality the Chinabay. Also You mentioned below you cannot deny Cathys Quality, are you going to say LB quality is the same? If Not, then why should Cathy charge the same as LB who probably doesn't charge the same amount as ebay.

So in the end why would you go to Cathy more expensive and Always late business if you love barbs work and its cheaper and always on time. Unless you wanted better quality stuff. Something doesn't add up and sounds like you might just have a grudge.

Didn't your g/f win WCS usa? why not get her to sew your stuff and save lots of money?

I've bought from shitty ebay sellers, chinese sweatshops, Kathy, Barb, Cosplay1, random others...etc...

That would be Cosplay1, the creators of 4ng's Kuja costume. Which was a little less than 300 compared to what GSTQ and LB were asking of 1k-2k and the quality of cos1 and GSTQ is about the same. Just cheaper :D

I've seen both of their craft up close, I can assure you, they are on par. There are some things cos1 cannot do that Cathy can, that's true, but if you are going for a super complicated costume, go to Cathy, she's your best bet, but you'll be paying for it. If you're not looking for an overly complicated costume, cos1 will be your best bet because they will make it perfectly, and I really mean that because I spend a good chunk of time looking at the craft of it and cannot find a flaw in cos1's stuff, you get a lot more bang for your buck with cos1's stuff.
