I haven't seen anyone I know of on places like /cgl/4chan, until tonight...It angered me to read of someone who took a friend of mine's photo from the We Love The Con Day on Saturday and posted it and said some harsh things about her. I could not believe my eyes and it made me feel disgusted and angry with whomever posted it, I won't say whom this person is but she does attend meetups frequently and is a sweet person inside and out.

I'm sure some of you have seen this or heard about this. But I think it's over the line of someone to actually do this. And it got me pretty upset for her. I mean, I don't even know how she feels or if she knows. It just made me so upset that I felt so bad for her. This is just plain offensive and cruel that somebody would say and post her picture like that. ><

In regards to a second rant this is about a lolita meetup I held yesterday...

I think the Vancouver lolita community needs to change and everyone there needs to learn how to communicate with either the host or each other. Again, I was hoping for at least 8 including myself people to show up but only 3 really did so, but even so 3 guests is just a drop in the bucket. >< This has been happening too frequently where anytime I start up or get a meetup started that girls don't show up or even have the modesty to apologize. ><

This is no longer pure shock value for me anymore and I know every lolita has a certain way of carrying themselves and behaving different, it's that when it comes to actually following through, these things seem to fall on deaf ears way too frequently. On one hand I could laugh at all this, but seriously this bothers me, I don't like having to look the other way and walk. I think the Vancouver cosplay scene is a pretty cool guy. There's personal drama between groups of friends, but it's typical highschool crap from what I understand. Then there's "Vendetta Con" aka FanFairFest, but no one cares about the old Walkoff drama anymore thank goodness. I like to think we deal with our shit and move on.

Really, we just exist, and our crappy cosplayers have lame crappy cosplayer meetups and everyone has fun. Vancouver has a lot of local meetups and events which I think is pretty awesome.

I used to be staff for the anime con in Vancouver and let me say this open and clear:

Cosplayers in Vancouver (almost every single one of them) are completely and utterly fucking retarded. There are some exceptions and I still speak with them, but the vast majority that are active on the Anime Evolution forums have no idea that they're wasting their lives and think that they're all hot shit.

The one mentioned in the OP is actually a half-decent person and I have to hand it to her for cosplaying characters that don't fit her, but the vast majority are clueless. Too many fucking Narutards, too many fucking Death Note faggots, and so forth.

This thread explains so much about some of the AE cosplayers-turned-lolitas I've met in Vancouver. Most Vancouver lolitas are rocking, but a couple of the younger ones need to grow the heck up.

I'm afraid of going to meet ups ever since my friend and I attended one several years back. I thought it'll be fun and we would get to talk about our common interest in the anime/manga and cosplay. Instead everyone except some handful turned out to be freaking crazy, disruptive, and lacked respect and consideration of the people around them. I still remember about these hyper girls who thought it was funny to chew the leaves of some potted plant... It was shortly after people kinda branched off by their own little groups. In the end my friend and I hung out with a pair of nice cosplayers who felt just about the same of the nutty meet-up.

Apparently the guy who ran the forums before came back and then after a year left. I do not know much more than that. He ran the forums for several years before but then left.

Yes. I used to run the forums. No. I think that they suck these days. Yes. I think that the moderation team should be completely wiped as they're just continuing on the worst that I brought out in me and the forums.

The only reason why I still have some sort of semblance of care is because a good chunk of the upper-levels of staff are close friends and the fact that my fiancee has a table in Artist Alley. If it weren't for her having that table, I probably would not be going.

Last year, I ran the classic gaming section and lost about $150 in games and equipment from the room. It was pretty much the final straw for me actually giving a damn about the attendees. It was pretty funny to see some idiots whine about LCD screens to me, though.

Pretty much my story here. I'm incredibly thankful. It's rather sad to see someone who is 25+ acting like a 15-year-old. Sadly, it's commonplace at conventions and meetups.

I'm not even in my 20's and I feel painfully old when I attend meetups (or attended, rather; I stopped going because of it).

The last meetup I went to was in 2007, where Twin-Fools hosted an ice-skating meet-up. It was a lot of fun as since it cost money only the weeaboos who had disposable income for things other than collecting figurines and stupid plushies could come. However, the downside of my going to that event is that it lead to a permanent injury that has plagued me ever since.

One good example of a man-child is Johnson. While there are many stories, there is one from 2006 that stands out most.

We went to that park outside of the library at Metrotown and I remember him getting into a shouting match with some kids who showed up and took photos. While what they were doing was pretty creepy, they were young-ish and were unlikely a threat.

I didn't dislike the guy then but as the years have passed, he has become more and more egotistical to the point that he makes me shudder. When Jesse and the others were denied the ability to do the Walk-Off, he went on a huge tirade against me and others stating that I was involved in some supposed cabal that was controlling every aspect of the convention; I still laugh thinking about it.

Why don't people just seriously give up on the con already. It needs to die. As much as I would be sad to see the only sembelence of a con in Vancouver disappear I can't help but think that nothing is better then what we have as anything done at AE could be done any other weekend with some friends.
