The skits had their high and low moments. The guy on the phone automated system and the Mugen talking sword skits were both awesome, especially for solo skits. None of them were truely horrible. Maybe as a group they were not on par with other Acen skits, but no where near the level of horrendous shit we get in Florida. Having them pre screened is an amazing idea. Wish we had that down here.

I only heard/saw the second half of the skits via the projector and I'm pretty sure I heard Bad Romance in at least 4 different skits. One chick sang a song (I thought that was against performance rules, but maybe I'm thinking of another con), another skit had such bad audio you couldn't understand a damned word. Another ripped off of Family Guy and didn't change anything except the names (KH), another ripped off the Old Spice commercials and didn't change enough to make it original (punch lines were still the same; it was repetitive). No clue about the first half though.

As I was forced to sit through the masquerade the previous two ACen's, and again this year, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the masq was. Yeah, there were still a few crap skits, but overall the quality was much better than past years. Certainly more skits that could actually make my jaded ass laugh.

The mortal combat based skit would have been great if they stopped after the Twilight joke. But then it dragged on into fail land.

ONLY Dark Knight Paine and Gunner Paine entered for the Yume Prize. They're the only two advancing. The skit was not judged--the costumes they wore were.

Full Throttle Paine broke backstage before it made it on--I think they are planning on revising it "to make it actually work". I believe it literally snapped in half so the top and bottom were missing entirely--the knives are supposed to move using a certain mechanism. They had it all planned out.

She was also supposed to be Lady Luck Paine at the end but was incapable of making the costume change in time.

But yeah, they won a Judge's Choice Award and the Yume for Dark Knight Paine and Gunner Paine and are going to be going to NYC for the finals. AFAIK they don't do 4chan either (since they make fun of me for browsing it) but this is right from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

I was one of the Yume judges and Yume for the Midwest was craft only. I didn't even see their skit, just dark knight and gunner Paine's costumes and everyone else who entered into Yume. They didn't even know they won until I told them backstage and they started to cry, lovely girls and very enthusiastic about their craft and they are great reps for the Midwest.

Going through the skits on ACP. So far four skits reference Lady Gaga or use her songs.

Nurse skit felt like a rehash of Soni's AB skit from four years ago, except with Gaga dance moves.

On the way home from Ohayocon I discussed a similiar skit with a friend of mine. Except we put Maria from Silent Hill 2 as Lady Gaga. But I was gonna wait a few years until Lady Gaga wasn't over played as much. Guess it won't work now. Either way, as a Gaga lover/SH lover, they did the dance moves right and it was one of the best skits to include a Gaga song... so I enjoyed it.

However the hot-line one is the one that really got me in tears.
