so for a gijinka cosplay ive decided to do vespiquen. i want to do it like the dress from elizabeth golden age but not so highly detailed with all the beads and what not. so does /cgl/ find this as an acceptable interpretation of this pokemon?

oh and lets makes this a gijinka thread noaw!

I think it sounds pretty rad. Vespiqueen is a queen right, so a classical dress to fit is much better than a 'modern' design IMO

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'm surprised I haven't seen any Vespiquen gijinkas yet.

That sounds like a great idea! Just don't get over your head with the historical accuracy; you want to be truer to the pokemon than the queen.

If this is going to be a ginjinka thread, does anyone have some Farfetch'd designs? I was thinking of making a hoodie with brown wing sleeves and a white stomach with yellow pants and a brown wig with the three nubby things, but that seems so... simple, IDK.

Farfetch'd is a simple pokemon. As long as you have a giant leek, it'll be recognizable. Also don't forget the black V on the forehead.
    >> Anonymous 04/30/10(Fri)13:31 No.2890069
    >>2890055
Well, it's better than a far-fetched design! Haha!

I'd add a wooden staff shaped like a leek. It would probably be really nice.

Okay, thanks! I just get so enamored with the super elaborate costumes, I worry sometimes that a simple one won't cut it.

So, would a prop leek be better than a real leek? I see Miku cosplayers with leeks occasionally, but I don't know if theirs are real or fake.

i'm thinking about cosplay drowzee but i have no idea how i'd gijinka-ize it.
maybe the trunk could be a ponytail? i'm not sure, i'd love if you guys could suggest or even post some designs.

(if not i guess i might have to mascot it, haha)

    I would say prop.

Real leek would look cool but I can only imagine it would get wilty and weird after a while. But I'm no Leek expert.

OP here. sweet i really cant wait to start it now, ill go down to the fabric store today and start pricing ^^
    >> Oshi !pkMVShM4AY 04/30/10(Fri)14:09 No.2890167
OP reminded me of when I suggested my girlfriend do a Vespiquen gijinka, knowing that she's terrified of bees... And now I want to make a Beedrill mascot for the same reason.
Does this make me a bad person? (yes)

Only if you catch some bees in a jar and run at her with them.

Damn, girl, I'm so excited for you! Make sure you find a killer waist cincher - it'll suck, but be totally worth it.

I am assuming you are female? I could TRY and make up a design, just to play around with. :3

    Then do a mascot. :D

A prop leek is better in proportion.

Farfetch'd's leek is equal in size to the damned Wannabe chicken itself.

I was born and raised among leek fields, and dang, I never did see a human sized leek ^^

what does /cgl/ think? the houndooms i've seen are very plain and over done so i would like some critique! these are just very loose sketches at the moment.
i plan on using real barbary sheep horns and i have a bobcat skull i could use for one of the skulls. i could probably get some cow ribs to try for the bones on the back but i'm pretty sure it would look like shit.

Loose one of the skulls on the 2nd design.

I'm a fan of the 1st and 3rd ones, although maybe loose the tie...
    >> Anonymous 04/30/10(Fri)16:07 No.2890482
    >>2890417
Hm, you're probably right. It looks repetitive.

    >>2890442
I figured a vest would close too much and hide most of the orange stomach so I would try for a tie to compensate for it.

Not the anon looking for Drowzee, but I think doing a wig like that with a big front curl would work great for the trunk. That design is awesome, BTW, but a full body shot might be more useful. (Assuming you're the one who drew that).

    >>2890368
I like the first one the best, but it's sort of got a "underwear on the outside" look with the black/orange contrast.
    >> Anonymous 04/30/10(Fri)16:18 No.2890520
    >>2890512
Lol you're right. Do you think it would be better if I split each pant leg half black, half orange or just leave it out all together?

    >>2890512
Didn't draw either Drowzee, it's the only two I found on pixiv.
