the whole concept of lolita bothers me, actually.
if i saw a nice item of clothing and it happened to be lolita i wouldn't stick it in a separate wardrobe and only wear it with other things considered to be rori, i would want to wear it on a daily basis with something not-lolita that i consider would make a good outfit. i would rather be worrying about if this outfit looks good than if this outfit is loli enough. you might say that casual lolita is alright with anything remotely lolita but it's not. it has rules just like all the other styles. wear a sweet skirt with a non-pink or non-frilly or non-kawaii shirt and they will go batshit.
lolita is just clothes, just like any other 'style' it can be mixed and still look good. so why is everyone so afraid of wearing it like any other dress? if i spent all that money on a nice dress i would want to show it off.
actually i think that counts for every fashion style, man up and learn that style and rules aren't everything, it's about looking good and feeling good.

    tl;dr FUCK LOLITAS

Having a group planned for months, only to have a good percentage of the people flake out at the last second.
Friends who will complain they want to cosplay but 'can't make it themselves', then spend ages trying to convince you that yes, abandoning your own cosplay to make their own is INDEED the first thing you want to do.
Also fail shoes, and 'I'll just use my real hair, cbf lol'

But, really, most things I'll just halfheartedly simmer about. Not worth losing sleep over.

A former lolita here- people go batshit when you post it under the lolita label if you're gonna wear it with reg clothes. Especially in an uncute coord- put some effort to make it work with modern clothes.
Don't just slap on a cupcake skirt with a band tee and Converse and go derp derp. The victorian look is in mainstream fashion right now, so tons of coord ideas can be found in most stores & mags.

I wore the old lady bookstore clerk look before it became in vogue, damnit. Off my lawn, H&M & F21.

    >why you can't wear these shoes with that blouse

    Going by the set example:
Band tee= slouchy, comfy / sweet loli skirt= elaborate, delicate / Converse= tough, sneakers.
Besides the fabric and genre clash, its jarring and majorly tacky. It'll take serious skill to make it work, which is not unpossible, but most often will result in fail.

The rampant slut-shaming that goes on in the lolita community. It actually makes me sick to my stomach. I know it's ironic to be complaining about this on 4chan, but 4chan doesn't proclaim itself feminist at every opportunity. NEWSFLASH: Just because lolita is not an inherently sexual fashion, doesn't mean you get to dictate whether someone is a sexual person while wearing lolita. Just like nobody get to say you need to be a pretty polite princess, remember?

I know that with the nature of what Vocaloid is, most people aren't going to be as hardcore of fans as I am, but it was the most disappointing thing ever when I was in my Miku costume and tried to talk to other Vocaloid cosplayers about what songs they like and they all were like "Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru!" I have this friend who has cosplay ADHD. Every time a new character from movie/anime/manga is introduced to her, she always says, "Man i'm going to cosplay that." She then makes a huge deal about how she's going to do it and when she's going to get it done. She likes to grab attention and always sends people pictures of the character she wants to do. For each character it goes on for about a week, then she forgets about it.
So far she has completed half a costume, and has around 25 cosplays planned in the next six months. The original count was around 40, but some of those were cut because "I lost interest cause it was too hard to do."
None of them require props nor intense sewing.
