Maybe they're finally fixing some of the shit that's been broken since December which the server upgrades didn't solve.

LOL so tell me where there's a better English language site with active forums.

the sad truth. shit sucks and is perpetually broken, expert advice from seasoned cosplayers has been pushed out by newfags asking the same shit over and over, and they (coscom) really don't care because they have the brand name and user volume. ACP is better, but most use both rather than exclusively ACP.
    >> Anonymous 04/20/10(Tue)11:33 No.2848776
    >>2848766
Yea, I understand where you're coming from. I started a few threads on coscom's forums and regardless of whether they got stickied or not, newfags ask the same questions that I answered in my threads.

I use ACP too but haven't purchased a celestial membership. Maybe I'd use ACP more if I got those added benefits. However, I've been unable to ascertain if the membership fee presents users with much better features than a free membership. :/ any input?

    >>2848776

Yes. It's worth it. A one time $20 fee, you get more picture uploads--25 or 30 per costume versus like 10 or 15, I forget which, moar attention in thumbnails on the front page, (face it, if you aren't attention seeking you're either deluded or in the wrong hobby), and you're actively supporting the site. There's more but I forget what all is.

You can do commissons now too which I'm really leery of. Coscom's marketplace burnt me bad. 20 emails a day asking if I can sell the cos I spent $200 on materials alone on for $50. DO I need to fucking comment on that.
    >> Anonymous 04/20/10(Tue)13:56 No.2849309
    >>2849303
Sounds reasonable. Plus, it's a one-time fee which is a bonus.

That's it? Coscom is unlimited for photo uploads.

    This is my guess:

The cosplay.com forums are so full of stupid that it makes one want to die. Therefore, if someone wants forums like it, they must be a masochist.
    >> Anonymous 04/20/10(Tue)19:19 No.2850509
Probably volcanic ash blocking up all the tubes on their interwebs or something. Stop me if I'm getting too technical for you...

    >>2850222
I suppose this is true but there is the occasional golden nugget of information from a knowledgeable cosplayer. Though these days, it's hard to find decent help.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)01:05 No.2852315
eh, coscom is decent i guess. Pisses me off that you cant criticize or else they ban your ass. Pussies
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)01:15 No.2852362
    >>2852315
Pretty much - but being able to criticize would prove that people aren't speshul widdle snowfwakes and coscom can't have any of that.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)01:18 No.2852374
sad....more horrible cosplays thanks to coscom, they encourage it....

Yes, but who is considered the top of cosplay on there?
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)01:41 No.2852465
    >>2852427
Heh, and you certainly can't judge anything by the showcased materials.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)01:47 No.2852480
coscom's only worth it for the forums, full of stupid though they may be. Sometimes I just can't handle the drama and bitchiness levels on /cgl/ and it's good to have an alternative.

Then, vice versa, I get sick of the retardery and newfags on coscom and come back here.

Considering upgrading over at ACP. Wish their forums actually got used though.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)02:20 No.2852595
    >>2852480
That's the situation I'm in. Do I pay the $20 one time fee and get to post more pictures and get to see how many pageviews I have or do I not care that much. I'm on the fence about it. I'm on Cure and Cosplay Lab for lulz.

Would getting an upgraded ACP account really be worth it to me. :/
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)02:33 No.2852648
    >>2852595
It would be supporting cos.com's competition, so to me, yes, easily worth it.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)02:36 No.2852666
    >>2852648
Ah, awesome point. $20 is pretty cheap too. I don't know why I am apprehensive about it.

I personally wouldn't even consider a coscom upgraded membership if it ever did happen. That would be like paying them for a busted-ass site. Free use is trouble enough.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)03:19 No.2852794
    >>2852648
Sometimes I'll sponsor ACP accounts for just this reason. $20 isn't all that much, and each Jackson means sticking it to Kyle's shitty, shitty site.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)03:27 No.2852821
I support low, one-time fees for shit. I've never signed up for a subscription service but I upgraded my ACP and LibraryThing accounts very promptly!
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)12:26 No.2853781
    Why can't they fix anything?
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)13:32 No.2853973
    >>2853781
Because Kyle claims to be the coder for the site and gives the excuse that he's just "too busy", when in reality, he outsources the coding work to someone else and just takes credit for it.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)13:56 No.2854047
    >>2853973
He may indeed be busy but why the hell pay to outsource the coding and have such shittastic results?

TBH, I think if he asked, there might be qualified coscom members who could do a better job. And hell, if he asked, there might be better volunteer mods as well.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)14:47 No.2854202
    >>2854047
He will never ask for help. Cosplay.com is his abused child that he doesn't want anyone else fucking.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)15:04 No.2854285
    >>2854202
Couldn't have said it any better myself. It's worth quite a bit of money, but I guess he's cool with shitting on his investment. There will always be a supply of newfags to provide traffic to the site and clicking the stupid ad links.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)15:07 No.2854296
Deviantart for me. It's full of KH dykes and dumb franbrats, but you don't HAVE to look at them, and the interface is nice.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/10(Wed)15:23 No.2854362
Maybe a tad off topic but does anyone have trouble getting logged off constantly?

You have to check off the "Remember me" box.

Apparently that is another bug they will never fix.
