No. I meet some pretty cool young people. If it was 18+, I would only be recognized by Man-Children while I cosplayed. That takes out half the wonder.

I don't know if you're retarded or what, but no smart con would restrict itself to be 18+. The reason being that they would lose half their revenue if they did such a thing.

Although, there are some things I don't think is appropriate for kids. Some skits can get kinda racey or sketchy, and it's definitely something I wouldn't want, say, an 8 year old exposed to. But like what others have said, it'd be unprofitable.

Even if you make it 18+ there are still a clusterfuck of immature people who will be there to glomp and yaoi paddle you. You'll just be losing a good portion of profit as a few have said already. Also some good cosplayers and generally interesting people, so it'd be a bust.

Definitely no. I remember I didn't really have any friends and I went to an anime convention when I was 15. Some kids from school were there and came up to talk to me. We have been best friends ever since, not to mention I met a lot of other friends who I now go to Uni with. Anime conventions were a big part of my teenage life and I wouldn't want to take that away from anyone else.

Maybe not an 18+ or 21+ only convention, but i really wouldn't mind having events that are 18+ or 21+, like dances, bars and such. They already have 18+ hentai rooms at night, why not have more?

I choose the middle ground: Anime conventions should be restricted to persons 16 and over between 10pm and 7am unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Actually, one good thing about the 18 and under crowd, they're often good at spending their parents money. So for my friends who have booths in the dealer's room and artist alley, that sometimes helps. Though my friend says the older skewing Dragon Con is where he makes good money as he does custom props and they're more likely to drop the big money than anime kids.

Although, I wonder. Older people generally travel further than younger people (because of greater access to cars / money for plane tickets) so I wonder if there are fewer older congoers than statistics would suggest.

F.ex if you have a con with 10000 people and 2000 are over 18, and another con a few states away with the same ratio, I wonder how much overlap there is in the 18+ age group compared to the -18 age group.

Anyway I don't think an 18+ only con would be profitable or sustainable at all, but I'd still like to see more late-night stuff to do.
