This was from AX 2006, my first convention ever. My friend wanted to cosplay Air, and we set it up so I would cosplay Misuzu. Then I cut off all my hair one week before the con. I also decided to go fall in some rocks out in the desert while shooting off fire works, so I had to wear black stockings because my right leg was all fucked up. lol Greatest cosplay ever.

Ah man, back in the day...

So I found out that there was this thing called an "anime convention" where people would "cosplay" - Halloween in May, basically, and that was incredibly exciting. So I decided to cosplay Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi, my absolute favorite character at the time. It was a joint effort between myself and my mom (who was damn near as excited as I was); it's the costume that taught me how to sew, really.

There are a lot of problems with it... that crazy purple organza (poor choice, really - stupidly itchy, too), complete lack of binding, etc... but this was back before I knew people really cared what these things looked like.

Planning a redo for AZ 2011 =)

Great Saiyaman #2. Didn't even wear it to a convention, really, just to a local anime gathering.

The only things I made were the robe and cape, and boy can you tell. I didn't hem the bottom of the robe, the whole thing was held together by safety pins... I didn't even bother making the helmet, or even making my hair look like Videl's. I was also a good deal heavier. XD

This was Otakon 07, and I was 14-15 at the time, cosplaying with my dad, Geez, our outfits were such crap, plus we had no idea what we were doing. But it was a blast. The pants on mine were literally twice my size, so I had to clothes pin them together. And yes, we bought ours, but meh. We've altered them since, adding stuff etc.

My friend invited me to this "anime con" and said that people wore costumes. Originally, there was going to be a bunch of us, and we were going to have an Inuyasha group, complete with Kagome, Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru, Myoga....Probably some others, too.

So I threw this together the week before the con, non-seriously. When I got to the con, I was like "...oh shit" because there were people there that had actually put effort in to their costumes, and looked good. I at least had the Sesshoumaru (without a wig) wandering around with me. The rest all ended up not making it.


On the plus side, I actually know how to sew quite well now. :|

Anime conventions are about anime and manga and fandoms, with a smaller focus on video games, most of which of smaller girls, hence cosplayer

I cosplayed Haruhi Suzumiya at Sakuracon 2009 as my first, and I'm wearing it again for this year's Sakuracon, as well as another cosplay

I've tried to make some improvements, but to be quite honest it looks almost identical. I'm not going to wear a wig simply because my hair is better than the wig I bought for her (too black, too long; good quality, though.)

I was 11 and I decided I wanted to be Mikoto from Final Fantasy IX. Talk about an obscure character for a first cosplay, eh...?! Still, I took the single tiny screenshot from the game I had and the one piece of concept art I could find to my mum, and we worked on it together. She used to make her own clothes so I knew she'd be able to help me. At this point we didn't have a sewing machine so she and I hand sewed the entire thing from an altered pattern.

It was a lot of fun and the result wasn't that bad considering my age, the only thing that makes me cringe is my hair. I don't think even if I'd known about wigs at that age I'd have wanted to wear one, though - having the same colour hair as the character means it's completely accurate at that age. Sorry this picture isn't great, it's the only one that survived.

Only very recently started cosplaying.
First was the Battler here on the right at AWA 09.
Was 100% closet cosplay save for the wig and little addons on the coat.

My first convention was Katsucon when I was... 12? 13? My step-dad brought me to it as a surprise, I had a blast!

My first cosplay was at Anime Evolution 2008.

And I'll just copypasta the description I made on ACP for how it was made!

"This was for a group of Shin Megami Tensei cosplayers in general, not necessarily Persona or Devil Summoner. I bought the wig, wings and shorts/tube top online. Everything else I tried to construct from leather belts and little things here and there but failed miserably, so my friends constructed it overnight with the things I got!"

I still have the wig and wings, though the wings are really worn out. I remade the belt/chain parts for a booth thingy at Anime USA 2008 but I threw those away becayse, haha, they kinda fell apart too and I'd never have the courage to cosplay this again. Too revealing and I wasn't fit/pale enough for it.

This is somewhat complicated. My first anime costume was a closet cosplay of Kensuke Aida from NGE. But my first convention was Katsucon 13, the first convention where I cosplayed was in Anime USA 2007.

I actually bought the stuff at any clothes store. There was a shopping mall near College Park, MD where I just bought the stuff. As for the ID Card I made it using Paint.NET, printed out at a university library, cut out the two pieces and have it laminated.

My first cosplay was Kizna from Pilot Candidate. First wore it at AWA in 2005. My mom and I made it together and neither of us were very good so it's horribly inaccurate. I never wore it much, but recently I rewore it to a little cosplay get together since it's one of the few costumes I can drive in.

Wow, nostalgia. I remember watching Pilot Candidate on the Toonami Midnight Run before Adult Swim started.

My first cosplay... I don't have pictures of it because I'd rather not look at it. It was my first con, and I decided to cosplay Jigen from Lupin III... I liked the character, and I had a beard at the time. Problem is, he wears a dark green suit, which is not an easy thing to come by (I -did- actually find one at a thrift store but it was way too big for me). So instead I picked up a tan suit at a thrift store with the intention of dying it.

Finding fabric dye of the proper color was harder than I expected, and it didn't help that the suit was dry-clean only (and my mom wasn't about to let me use a green wash-in fabric dye in her washing machine). So I got the brilliant idea to -spraypaint- the suit green.

It turned out... well, better than I expected, but still. It was a spraypainted suit. It was stiff and kind of crunchy when it dried, and I was leaving little green flakes any place I sat down.

Oh, and the toy gun I ordered on eBay turned out to be about half as big as I thought it would be; I was too embarrassed to pose with it.

I still have the suit in my closet actually but I don't think I'm gonna be wearing it, ever again.

This is my first cosplay...and my only one...2 years ago x)

I retired from the anime world because I tought I was to old for it...but nein, I was dragged back again by a classmate in med school that is sooo cute and she does cosplay too x)

Mine was Kisame from Anime Expo 2009. My friend made the wig and did the face paint. I made the sword and bought the cloak myself. I went through four cons as kisame and lot of people said it was really good the best they ve seen in years.

I actually decided to come out of hiding recently to do this one. Which was kind of a mistake since hambeast yaoi fangirls are latching on to hetalia at a greater rate than ever. This and Engineer from TF2 were my first cosplays (same con)
