That's not their armor though, their gears armor is molded for bigger dudes (like Sid) and would absolutely swallow this chick. Hers looks like a mix of vacuform and foamy, not casted.

Also, is "best armor" even a craftsmanship award? I don't know what momocon is, just remember that not all cons (particularly sci-fi, which I'm sure momocon isn't), care about craftsmanship for every single one of their awards.

If she made it herself she needs to try to size it to herself better. Thats what made me think it was Nightmare armor because they reuse pieces all the time to make new armor.

Yes we have, multiple times. We have said the material looks the same along with the execution. Here's a picture of their armour. The material looks similar but lacking in the shiny department and more crisper details. She could have made it her self due to the lack of finer details, but who knows?

Having seen the 2, I can somewhat understand that people might be surprised that someone they aren't familiar with can come out with this level of detail, but when you look at the 2 side by side, the difference is night and day.

Any 3d game model is a lot easier to get accurate cosplay of because you can take the actual 3d model and get it exact.

Welcome to /cgl/. What you see in this thread IS people giving her a benefit of the doubt. You can't expect anyone to decide in her favor and just let it go, because there have been cases where people said exactly what you and the friend of a friend are saying in this thread, and it turned out that people who claimed the cosplayer didn't make their outfit were right and not white-knights.

Usually when someone wins an award, you know who they are. They've done work in the past, they have a coscom/DA/LJ and SOMEONE knows them. New faces and mysterious identity tends to freak people out.

Friend of mine was one of the judges at momocon. We did the props panel together.

Yes, these people are affiliated with Nightmare, though I don't know specifically in what regard. She and another person worked on making the armor, I'm assuming the gent in the pic next to her. They entered as Novice since they (themselves, that is) had not competed in an event before.
