Hey /cgl/ thought I asked here. I'm heading up to Sakuracon and this is my first time. I already know this con can get a little crazy but I was wondering what kind of things I need to prepare myself for. Also I have a friend who is going for the first time but she's pretty naive about this (she didn't even know what yaoi was). What should I warn her about before we head up? My outfits are all done but she bought a Kairi outfit and is wearing it all three days :/tl;dr Stories and warnings about Sakura con.

I'm going too! Make sure to SHOWER REGULARLY, is the main thing. If someone gives you trouble or is being creepy toward you, find someone with a badge and tell them. If you have any props/weapons/anything that LOOKS like it might be a weapon, get it peacebound ASAP. Utilize the buddy system. Don't follow anyone to their hotel room, even if it is just so they can 'get something'.Honestly, just use common sense. Cons aren't nearly as dangerous as a lot of people make them out to be.
con staff is really rude, other than that just try your hardest not to let them hassle you. also watch out for bums and normals accosting you and you will be good!
If you want lulz, don't tell her about anything, and watch what happens.Otherwise, just be blunt and tell her what to expect, like... be wary of gropers. Tell her what yaoi and yuri is--if she has a problem with it, she can just not go. Tell her cosplayers can be bitches, esp. if this costume of hers is god-awful.Do tell her to try and not be squeal-y and kawaii-desu, because that can get you a-cruisin' for a bruisin'. That, and obviously to bathe every day and not go off anywhere with strangers, etc.
Anyone planning any room parties this year and/or know where to find them?
It's not that different from any other con. warn your friend about glomping. if she's dressed as Kairi, it's gonna happen. also warn her that people will be asking for fanservice and trying to get her to make out with strangers. tell her it's always okay to say no and walk away. also, let her know she should wear short shorts under her skirt, unless she wants anyone snapping pics of her panties.big events (AMV contest, cosplay contest, concert) will be CROWDED. registration lines will be LONG. if you're pre-regged, go thursday or very very early on friday for the shortest possible wait. oh, and do not lose your badge. they enforce that here. without it you won't have access to most of the con.

Honestly Sakuracon is a wonderful convention.It's all been summed up, just use common sense and you'll be fine.

First thing is first, the security at S-Con are nothing but nerds, and if they try to detain you and steal your badge, leave the building, because unless you've hit someone they cant follow you out of the convention area. Second, enjoy those room parties, because shit gets crazy at cons, this, is where memories are made, OP. Third thing, don't be a dick. Consume your alcohol and other party favours like an adult. Fourth thing, enjoy the anime, and enjoy the cosplay. Fifth thing, SHOWER, or I will hunt you down.
