Basically the english version of The Digimon Movie that came out around 2000, I think? It was originally 3 Japanese Digimon movies, all edited into one big movie and compressed and whatnot.

Diaboromon is a.... virus Digimon thing who tries to destroy uh... things. Basically the main characters, Digimon Tamers, save the internet from a evilly programmed Digimon by going in the internet and fighting it, using the help of people around the world to slow the internet down. The first part of the movie, anyway.

Kouichi and Ken are really really different characters. Their only similarities in appearance would be hair color, really--they have very few likenesses other than that.

Ken was never in a coma, nor did he have a twin sibling--if anything, Ken and Kouji were similar personality types, but each season of Digimon has that one "dickish"/lone-wolf character. 01 was Matt, 02 was Ken, 03 was Ruki, and 04 was Kouji. Ken did have a brother as well, but his brother flat-out died--Kouichi was never "destined to take Kouji's spot" or anything, both of them were legitimately established as digidestined.

Both were the only digidestined to have the power of "darkness", of course, but Kouichi was never exactly as malicious as Ken was. Ken was a complete prat from the start and Kouichi was quieter and more of a weirdo stalker than anything else.

I was a huge digimon fan but watching the original and the dubs, you can very quickly see how much editing 4kids did. They didn't ruin the show, but theres so much shit they edit out all the time you don't know how much you're missing out on.

I have no problem with changing "Hey let's go get some sushi" to "hey lets go get a burger"

But getting rid of certain character's deaths, children's having adult reactions to stuff they shouldn't have to, and making Rika sound like a snobby 16 year old drama bitch instead of a cold friendless girl is just stupid.

Hey, guess what.
I did watch the Japanese versions of all of the movies. I listened to that damn song over and over again that they used and I pined to hear the cheesy soundtrack from the English version that actually made the fight scenes get my blood pumping.
I saw the full scenes and realized yeah, they made more sense, but I missed the stupid jokes.
I realized that one does not love Digimon for the plot, or the deepness, or any of that. One loves it because it makes you nearly tear up because of how much you miss your childhood.
You remember sitting in the cinema, surrounded by other kids wriggling in their seats, as the Digi-Rap started to play and everyone cheers. And sure, it's a dumb song. It's not the original dub. But as a kid, it made you smile. And rewatching it now, it makes you smile, as you mouth along to the lyrics of the cheesy songs that seem to flood back into your memory when you hear them and as you laugh at the stupid humor they worked in so that you, the child, could love it and laugh.
And that's why you should leave the English dub alone.

I grew up watching the dub and have barely seen any of the original Japanese, though I do know all the differences in the characters, series, and movie.

Season 1 and 2 were my childhood. Season 3 was eh. I couldn't stand Season 4. And wtf is Season 5, I don't even care. Let's go back to the good old days with the cool characters.
