At Youmacon a couple years ago, I got locked out of my room late at night, I wanted to get in to sleep, and my rommies were passed out already and would not wake up. I was outside the door frustrated... when Bulk (from the power rangers' he was a guest) walked by, asked my why I looked so glum, and then banged on the door loud and said "HOTEL SECURITY", smiled, and walked off. a min later my friend opened the door. It was a good night.

I ended up having dinner with some of the grizzled ancients from Bungie Studios without even realizing it. Another guest that I was cool with at the time snuck me into the guest dinner and they came and sat at our table.

I didn't realize who they where till years afterwards because I had no idea what Halo or even Halo 2 was at the time.

at PMX 07 my friends and I got into a pillow fight with those cylinder throw pillows that were on the beds. at one point I took my friend's right out of her hands and chucked it out the door and it happened to fly into the room across the hall. She runs after it and we lock her out.

so we hear the inevitable knock on the door and I get my pillow ready, swing open the door, and unleash a nasty overhand swing only to knock a hotel security officer to the floor while my friend is standing behind him, stunned. He gets up rubs his head, looks at me, looks at my friend behind him and says "Just keep it down..." shakes his head and walks away.

got REAL fucking lucky but it was really funny.

I was walking around at Fanime 08 alone [Because my ex-Friend was being a bitch] and I bumped into Yuuki from An Cafe :D No one reconized him but me..but I just pretended that I had no Idea who he was, He asked me if I knew a good place to get something to drink. We walked all the way down to the cafe that was located by the Hilton. It was awkward but he asked if I wanted to stay and chat...so to cut the long boring story short..I ended up getting back stage tickets for myself :D

SDCC '95. Believe it was Saturday or Sunday, I was wandering the floor with my brother, came to a few video game booths. Random booth girl comes up to us with these flyers, meant to be used as tickets or passes, saying these were her last ones and that we can go upstairs to try out this new console, something called "PlayStation" or some nonsense, and get some free lunch. Vidya and food? Fuck yes. We make our way to the room upstairs, and they're holding this mini tourney of Tekken among the people that got to go up, so stuffed face and died early on because it meant eating more. Needless to say that day was awesome.

I too was in a pillow fight at PMX '07. It had about 8 people in it, and it started to get violent. I eventually went all out against a guy and beat him into the wall and then into the floor. I kept chopping at him like wood until the others stopped me. He ended up getting a concussion, but it was pretty awesome. He was cool about it too lol.

At Anime Boston '07 got told twice by random strangers that they loved me. First, my brother and I were outside having a smoke, and this guy from another convention, some kind of actor thing was chatting with us, and asked if her could practice on us. We said sure, and he launches into the 'you complete me' speech from Jerry Maguire. He was really deep into it, staring soulfully into my eyes, and it took a lot of effort not to giggle because he was obviously trying really hard. We wished him luck, and went on our way. Later that night, we were walking to the formal ball, in my old prom dress (handmade and still bitchin'), and some kid walks past me, trails his hand down my arm and says, "I love you." gives me a big goofy grin and fucking sprints away. "Love you, too!" I yelled back. Felt good man.

I was at ACEN last year, just walking around in the merch room. And I was just wandering around looking for my friends. And these two asian girls walk up to me. A short one, and a slightly taller one. The short one just smiles real big, doesnt say anything (probably didn't speak english) and the taller one said, that's for you, and i notice the short one was handing me a sticker. It was of a cute little asian looking teddy bear holding something, and I stuck it on the back of my phone, and it's still there. Awwww, it was sweet.

Connecticon last year, I'm waiting to go into the dating game as a bachelorette so, preemptively, they blindfold me since the point is I'm not allowed to know who I'm asking questions to.

Standing out in the hallway talking to the other two contestants, can't see shit, and then suddenly I am just hoisted into the air over someone's shoulder and spun around. I freak out since I'm in a mini pencil skirt and just start shouting "MINI SKIRT, MINI SKIRT, PUT ME DOWN, MINI SKIRT", get gently placed down and then hear one of my friends laughing. He hadn't realized I was at the con and when he saw me he just decided to run over and be a spaz.

We still just randomly shout MINI SKIRT PUT ME DOWN at each other when we hug one another, even if it's not a random pick up incident.

I went to dinner at Sakuracon a few years back and the grill was so crowded that the woman seating people said that I could either wait or have dinner with a total stranger. I took the second option because I was fuck-all hungry, and got seated with a good-looking guy that was apparently there for the convention too.

Long story short, I complimented him on a couple of impressions of a few voices from a few anime and cartoons, took a picture of him with my phone because we were going to see about getting lunch the next day and I cannot remember faces for the life of me, I went back to my room, related the story, showed the picture to the girls I was rooming with, and it was apparently Liam O'Brian.

I never could find him for lunch the next day, and the phone I had the picture on died shortly after. Shit sucked so bad.

long story short: I'm a crossplayer, and all my con friends think I'm a girl; I was miserable for lying to them. one day I hit it off with a really cute guy (hadn't had feelings for guys before this), we were alone in a side room, he was hitting me hardcore and I ended up sucking his you know what.

guy sees my boner flop out just as he blows it on my face, cue high-level con organizer walking into the room. we both book it, and we are laughing and breathless by the time we stop running. I was banned from that con, but it was worth it; the guy is now my bf and I'm honest with my friends and life is good.

lol "too famous". she started out a pimply teenager with a sewing machine on cgl just like the rest of us, she just worked hard to network, learned how to makeup, showed lots of skin, and kept hacking away despite all the hating (justified or not, that's not my point) she got at one point.

now, she's a credible cosplay icon, getting paid for photoshoots, appearances, etc. all the young kids only know her as this, and the old people either love her, don't care, are bitter about it or have moved on.

Drawing for one guy at Artist's Alley during Reactor '09. Dude wanted to humiliate his friend in retaliation for some slight earlier that day. So he commissioned me for twelve pages of consecutive tentacle rape of his friend. Gave me fifty dollars, walked away.
He came back and I gave him a giant book of rapey terror.
Laughs were had.

I have a guy friend who had never before cosplayed and spends most of his time acting as a pack mule for the rest of the group. At MangaNext '08 I felt bad that he never got dressed up and managed to convince him to wear an oversized white buttonup shirt that I had brought along for fanservice sake. The shirt fit him perfectly and he ran out and bought some cat ears to wear. We stuck a feather boa on him as a tail. Now, while I do not approve of bad half-assed cosplay, Just being in this thrown together outfit and having us take pictures of him made him amazingly happy. It was quite adorable and he has worn real cosplays ever since then.

That's kind of how I got into cosplay. I was always too scared too, but a shitty cat-closet cosplay like that really helped me to see how much fun it was, and it gave me enough courage to try the real thing the next year. It was pretty sweet.
