76 KB Let's have a an awesome FUCK YEAH con story time Anonymous 03/04/10(Thu)18:37 No.2656700
Nothing against the nightmare stories. But now I want to read your awesome stories /cgl/.

Mine would be about...fuck...ages.. years ago. I would try to get most of my anime/nerd friends to go to cons but usually a) they couldn't get the time off b) were broke or c) didn't want to travel far.

Somehow I managed to get them to go to AFO 3. I also managed to make a group con/vacation. They not only managed to save up, they not only managed to get the time off, they managed to even want to travel! We decided to hit up Universal/Islands of Adventure.

Fucking...good times. Good times ;_; That was one of the last time I remember my awesome con and oldschool friends all being able to be together/have fun/go on rides then next day go to a convention.

i fucking envy you. not for the free badges, nice people, or that actor dude, but because you went to a drama-free convention. D:

    Oh, gosh, lesse now...

Dragon*Con 2007 a friend and I were walking down a relatively-deserted hallway, and we were sending horrible doodles to each other through DS Pictochat, when she suddenly walked into someone and fell down. It was this HUGE black guy wearing the biggest scowl ever. She looked like she was about to cry.

Suddenly he smiles really big, practically picks her up, sets her on her feet and apologizes about how HE wasn't looking where he was going. We palled around for a few minutes, he seemed like a real cool guy, but we were going to a panel and we parted ways and never saw him the rest of the con.

Looking back, it was Christopher Judge. That guy is the nicest guy you could ever possibly run into.

dont have it here, but i can ask my friends tomorrow if they got any pictures

this was what happened: these girls usually win the contests around here because they have a good performance and shit, but this last con i went with my brand new touhou group: me and three other friends. our outfits are really good, i mean, we put a LOT of work and love on them. so we made up a little act so we could join the contest, you know, just for fun. but the judges loved seeing some different cosplayers for once (prolly got tired of naruto and sailor moon LOL) and gave us the 1st place. bitches got mad, man.

one of them pretended to trip as they were passing by us and ripped a small part of my dress. i was lucky to have a friend that knows how to sew working on a stand nearby, so i got it fixed and went back to enjoy the rest of the con. my friends were totally pissed though, but because there usually is a rule that forbids fighting and stuff, they couldn't do anything.

at the end of the con we were standing on the stairs, waiting for our ride, when those sailor moon girls were spotted walking down the street. there were only three of them, the rest was probably already gone, but the girl who tried to ruin my cosplay was there too.

needless to say my friends followed and cornered them and beat the crap out of those girls. they're pretty fiery and strong for a bunch of girls, i gotta say. i'm kind of an anti-violence and quiet person, so i just stood there watching, wondering if i should stop them or just happily watch my bffs kicking some serious ass. so yep, i just stood there until they were done. bitches ran out crying and with their costumes ruined.

    FEELS

    GOOD

    MAN

Acen '04 was my first Acen ever. I was completely on my own cuz the friend who was going to go with me couldn't make it. I didn't know anyone who attended Acen, so my mom ended up accompanying me. She was really pissed that day. She scowled at me throughout the whole thing. I'm not too sure if was something I did, or if she was uncomfortable with the whole con scene. Anyway, we weren't having a very good time.
The pillows were playing that year, but by the time I got to the concert hall it already started and they wouldn't let me enter since I didn't have a ticket. I was quite upset. It was shitty to begin with, and not being able to see my fav band at the time was like insult to injury. I guess my mom noticed how bummed out I was, so she began arguing with the bouncer to let me in. She eventually talked him into it, and I was let in. Since my mom didn't like loud music, she waited for me outside.
I was like 14 in '04, so I didn't think about it much then. But thinking about it now...I think I'm gonna have to give my mom a big hug later. The concert was fun, but I'll always remember what she did for me.

First convention with our own booth in artists' alley. My friend and I were both easily the youngest artists there (we were sophomores in high school), and more than a little lost. But! The convention was small enough where we knew all of our neighbors (all of whom were nice), and everyone we drew for was incredibly kind. We took pictures. My favorite commissionee was this (at first) really intimidating metal dude who wanted pictures of kittens.
Came back next year and saw old friends. Shit was so heartwarming.

god. I wish I could pick a good story. I think one of my favorite stories is a road trip with saku, moogle, and a friend of mine up to fanime this past year. Moogle summons bails of hay out of no where in the middle of cities. it's amazing

Also: SAKU! HIT UP THE BONUS LANE! BONUS LAAAANE!!!

Katsucon... 07, I think? The year when the ice storm hit D.C. and I had the three days leading up to katsu off from school. It was the last con that my entire group of friends were together and it was before I started dating my ex so we were just really chill and happy. We all did a group cosplay and even went out to D.C. (not in cosplay) and walked over the frozen reflection pool at the lincoln memorial.

So this one time, We're waiting outside of a panel room from something to start, and my little brother comes in with an Icecream cake.
He had walked over to a baskin robins and sweetalked the girl at the register to sell him the Icecream cake on her employee discount. and now he had an icecream cake.
So we start eating it, and there a lot, so we invite others to help eat it, and it becomes a little party.

Fanime 07 I think? Reuben Langdon and Daniel Southworth, voice actors of Dante and Vergil from DMC 3 were there. It was my first Fanime and it was a coincidence that I was even there.

Mom wanted to see my grandma that weekend, BUT! I had remembered that Fanime was that weekend. Next day I was gone to Fanime on bus from Oakland over to San Jose. ( Honestly the trip was like an hour, totally worth it. )

I saw Reuben and Daniel hanging out with a crowd all the way at the top and...somewhere in the left side of the hall secretly hiding! At first I didn't know who they were until I asked someone in the crowd. ( Only like 7 people ) I came. Everyone was on Reuben and poor Daniel was just hanging out by himself. I walked over to him and asked him for his autograph, he did and he was SO nice! Asked him if he could talk to me as Vergil and he said it in his voice: "I'll say whatever you want me to say" in a low and seducing tone. I came again. I hugged him REALLY tight and he hugged me right back TIGHTER! He started joking around and said "You're holding me too tight" and started to sink. Lol I had already stopped hugging him so I just laughed. Personally I think IRL they're reversed roles. Reuben seems really mellow and Daniel was more spunky.

Even though I wanted to stay longer...couldn't. Had to come back home to L.A. the next day. Sad I didn't get to see their panel, but happy I have his autograph and memories of Daniel. <3

Pic related, it's his autograph to me. <3

At Anime Boston... 2006 maybe? My friends and I got all dolled up to go to the formal dance, but they wouldn't let us in because our guy friend had sneakers on. We were bummed out, and just walking around not knowing what else to do. I saw Troy Baker (voice of Abel Nightroad) just chilling to the side of the hallway, so I freaked out a little and went up to him and shyly asked for a hug. As we were coming apart he planted a little kiss on my cheek and I pretty much hyperventilated and died :D He's such a beautiful man ~
