Two years ago today was 2008 and everyone was worried about getting shot at because AX was moving to the LACC.

Also, you only end up in the ghetto and unsafe areas if you go looking for them. If you just stay on Figueroa between the convention center and the hotels you'll be just fine.

I live pretty much down Figueroa from LACC and it actually feels really safe around there. It's all about common sense--if it feels or looks like it's the ghetto, don't go in.

I'm split on going to this or Fanime. Fanime would ultimately be easier to go to, me being in the Sacramento area, and it also has a restricted rock paper scissors tournament...but AX is where all my friends plan on going, plus there's a lotta artist I wanna commish there.....

I'm leaning towards Fanime....any suggestions?

No. AX is definitely bigger. In 2008 AX had 43,000 attendees, Otakon had 27,000.

Didn't think it was worth it, having to pay an EXTRA $60 just to wait in line to get a quick signature from a guest and then get pushed aside for the next person in line.

Staff were assholes, telling me my exhibitor pass was fake, when it wasn't. I paid that stupid amount of money for a table and pass. I was kept aside for 2 HOURS until someone with a list confirmed I had paid for it.

Artist Alley is crammed.

I had tons of fun in AX '09, what's with all the doomsday sayings about this year's AX?

Had no fun last year at the con, and seeing all the staffing issues and guest issues, I wont be going this year. AX has shit panels, and I really don't want to go to a con just because it has a lot of attendees and has a big vendor hall.
