Why do people think it's a good idea to bring their babies/small children to conventions (which are 18+)? They will be surrounded by noisy people, drunk people, people making out, and generally it's probably not the best environment to have a kid in. Not only that, but the brat will probably start screaming, vomiting, shitting on someone or will wreck someone's costume. Fucking kids. If this topic hadn't been locked, I would have given them a piece of my mind.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)04:31 No.2556672
Dude a 3 month old isn't going to do ANY of those things, except for cry. Cool your jets.

I've seen plenty of kids at cons and never seen one out of control. Where are you getting this?
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)04:33 No.2556675
A three-month-old hardly qualifies as a brat. They can't even walk, how the fuck would they wreck anyone's costume, let alone "vomit/shit on someone"? Chill the fuck out. It'll be in a stroller at the very worst, and the con doesn't even sound that big, so it's not like you can't give it and the mother a wide berth.

Never heard of grabby hands? It'll be in a pushchair or Mummy will probably pick their crotch dropping up and shove it into someone's face... It's a completely inappropriate place to bring a fucking child. Not everyone wants to be subjected to the stink of your precious darling.

It's also the biggest convention in the UK. Just because we don't have ones with 10k+ people or whatever your ridiculous amount is, doesn't mean we don't have large conventions.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)04:37 No.2556684
A better question is why these dumbfucks bother reproducing in the first place? As if that wasn't bad enough they continue to be weeaboos and bring them to cons

    >Mummy will probably pick their crotch dropping up and shove it into someone's face

Are you retarded? What kind of mother would shove their infant in a stranger's face? How the fuck would it grab you from within the perimeter of a stroller when its reach is less than a fucking foot long?

You're just some ignorant cynic who assumes the absolute worst in any situation, and thus have no right to tell people what they can or cannot do at a con, specifically one in which you are not part of staff. Moron.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)04:40 No.2556689
Babies that age just scream nonstop and smell horrible. You can't leave your kid with relatives or something for the weekend? By that time she's probably gonna want a break from the little crumbsnacher anyway. I know I would.

    >>2556686 For some reason, women seem to think that people want to hold their children? I don't know why, but plenty of women do it to me. No amount of "no" seems to stop them.
"Do you want to hold the baby?"
"No thanks, I don't like them."
"Aww of course you do, he's so cute!"

Have you ever been around new mums? When they aren't shoving the newborn pictures in your face, they hold the dumb thing up so that you can see the wittle pweshus.

Don't cons have an age limit? No dumbfucks under 6?

Amecon is 18+ this year. I don't get how that somehow means "18+ or people under the age of 2 only". I'd rather have 16 and 17 year olds like before than babies.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)04:50 No.2556706
If anything most mothers don't shove their 3month olds into people's faces, mainly worried about colds, coughs, and illnesses. Never have I had a mother shove a child into my face, especially not one that young. Usually mothers are very protective of their children around that age more than anything.

However; 3months is still quite young I think to take to a convention, not because of stinkiness and screaming as some individuals are bawwing about here... But more for the fact that it's very easy for a child that age to get sick, and cons are not the most clean places. So taking a baby to a con that age- I don't think I would for the sole fact that the child could get sick from Consickness which is highly common in all conventions.

I HATE THIS. My step sister had a child a few months ago and I went to visit my parents out of state and she was like OMG DON'T YOU WANT TO HOLD HER! No, I do not want to hold someone else's spawn. I don't even like being in the same room as small children.

I mean, you can do what you want and all....but if you care about your very small baby, you probably wouldn't bring it around the noise and douchebaggery at a con.

haha no one because by the time we are old they will all be gone, so fuck the little balls of poop and tears. Every one else at the con shouldn't have to put up with a child if they don't want to.

And you'll still be immature as the kids you hate. You didn't reply to my post at all stupid. Complain all you want but just avoid the woman. God fucking damn are you so special you're going to take up the halls?
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)14:15 No.2557536
I agree with both sides. If your is colicly, or you can't keep them clean and poopiefree, leave them at home. But not all kids are screamin boogerflingers, so they shouldn't be lumped together.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)14:19 No.2557545
    >>2556706

Agreeing with this. Too often people catch con crud. God knows how many people end up sick after a convention. I wouldn't want to bring such a young child to one, especially when they poor thing hasn't even had all their shots yet.

Children need and do eventually end up being exposed to the outside world, but I still wouldn't take them into such an over crowded germ infested environment.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)14:24 No.2557559
A child that small can barely handle the sun- let alone the convention. Also, children that age DO NOT sleep through the night. The mother-to-be will be exhausted by con.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)14:33 No.2557579
    >>2556711

    This.

Seriously OP, you're making a fuss over nothing. I've been going to cons for years and never have I had a problem with children whatsoever. Not one. Especially at 3 months, that baby isn't going to do a thing to you. If you're that terrified of it, steer clear of it. It's not rocket science.

For the BABY's sake it is stupid to take him to conventions because of the exposure to illnesses and whatnot, not to mention that it could be a very stressful atmosphere for him, especially an 18+ one. It's stupid on the mother's part to want to bring him instead of having someone babysit him for just a couple of days, but like hell the baby's going to be a problem for anyone.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)14:54 No.2557617
Its not necessarily the actual child that annoys me its the responsibility of the child that annoys me. Everyone coming to this con expecting it to be 18+ only and then they can't do all the things they want to with a baby around. They also have to make sure they cater all their actions to the baby. Things like cussing, drinking, drugs, nudity, etc.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)16:21 No.2557774
    >>2557617

If it's an 18+ con it's an 18+ con. If she takes her baby there knowing this then she has to abide to the con, not the other way around. If she's flabbergasted at nudity around her baby then it's her own damn fault and people will undoubtedly give her crap about it rather than sympathize with her. I wouldn't worry about it.
    >> ai-honey !eEQ3LJoZmM 02/05/10(Fri)16:29 No.2557792
Yeah.. /slight/ over reaction here. Amecon is not going to become over run with babies anytime soon.

I doubt she'll care about just nudity with a 3 month old. It's not like they'll know what is going on.

I was a con baby (around 6 months) and my parents just kept me in the stroller or held me close to them. It wasn't a small con either If someone throws their kid in your face that parent is a fucking retard.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)17:54 No.2557998
    >>2557774
Baby's suck on boobs for food. If anything they will just get hungy.

A lot of times parents will bathe with their baby and a baby isn't going to care if someone is naked if their basic needs and wants are made.

I know one of my friends/co-workers took their under 1 year old (can't remember how many months) to Dragon*Con. She had a blast and when they went to the panels they sat in the back near the exits in case she got fussy which according to him she never did. She loved the parade and all the brightly colored costumes.

If the baby is going to vomit/pee/ or crap on anyone 99% of the time it's going to be on the parent.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)18:50 No.2558127

What? Even if the con did allow a baby, why would I tiny lump of unaware flesh give a shit about any of those things?
