Admittedly, though, gijinka is hit or miss for me..mostly miss. I do love the ones that are ever so seldom done very, very well. I like most of these though. They're simple, but they're cute.

I also think gijinka automatically attracts the n00by cosfags 'cause they think they can buy most of the costume and add stupid ears on top of their head. Those are the ones I hate. I think most of not all of these costumes were hand made, simple as they may be.

It gives the cosplayer a good bit of creative control, which is nice.

Not really. Its just a way for cosplayers to cosplay as pokemon they like without having wear or make a fursuit. I for one think fursuits are mighty uncomfortable and would rather not truck around in one the whole con. Its also a way use your creativity or bring some persons concept to life.

One thing that bothers me though is gijinka are nothing more than a fanmade designs. So then why aren't things like fanart designs, gender swaps, and crossovers accepted? Its about showing your love for a series and character. I don't think you should have to be a carbon copy of character, you just have to show their spirit how you perceive it.

But to add my own elitist input: if you are going to do one, at least make it. They're as simple or as hard as you want them to be so just pick something within your range and do it well. The reason a lot of people hate them is because they're shoddily made and look like a POS.

I still think that is someone wants to be a sexy version, go for it--but at least give it a little something to show you put some effort into it.

<< This gijinka kabutops, for example, would be pretty freaking sweet. I'd do it but I'm not that bold but I'd totally admire someone else for fronting it (assuming they did a good job).

I want to do a Ludicolo gijinka in the form of a Spanish dancer dress (pic related) with a big hat and stuff. And maybe get a Miror B. with me.
