a pretty shy person around strangers, and in my experience, trying to
force a conversation just doesn't end well....instead, when you sense a
conversation potentially starting, do your best to keep it going. i.e.,
compliment someone's costume, ask a question about a specific part of
it, like how they made a prop or if they had trouble sewing this or
that, talk about which part of your costume was really hard to
make....or talk about their character or the series it's from, if it's
one you like and know enough about to discuss. then let things progress
naturally. ideally you would be in a neutral location and neither of
you is walking or on your way somewhere. waiting in line, just hanging
around, you get the picture.
...but then again, the only time
i've made actual friends at a con, it was through someone else )= so i
don't know if my advice means anything. |
