Hey /cgl/, I wanna hear some heroic stories from cons. All the stories are usually about sex or rage or mean shit etc. Let's hear some awesome stories where the princess gets rescued or the ogre is slain from your con experiences.

Friend of mine saw a trio of congoers lounging in the arcade at AX a few years back. Apparently, a paycheck hadn't been deposited in time and they couldn't get their hotel room as a result. We let them crash in our room for the duration of the con.

I ruined a group photo of some narutards who were constantly yelling " the game" and hitting people with their kunai knifes. they were on their last photo on their disposable camera (or so said one of their mothers i presume) they went with the 1, 2, 3, smile. i went with the ONE, TWO, THREE, RIDER KICK.

My first major con was when I was 13. I managed to cram into an elevator on the way to my room with a large, smelly guy who had just cane from the game rooms. He was wearing some kind of naruto cosplay or something- that's to say he was like 300 pounds and wore a headband. I'm like 90 pounds and 4'9" tall, so I snuck into the corner and hid on my way up to the 23th floor or some shit.

He smelled terrible. and started backing up. Not to cram more people in, just to back up. I saw him look back at me and he KNEW I was getting cramped. And he kept backing up. So I meekly voiced that he was backing into me, until all the sudden his fat rolls were touching me. I thought I was going to barf. He turned around a little, so he could look down at me, and said suggestively "You like that?" and put a hand on my chest.

Next thing I knew someone had smacked him in the back with a keyblade. It almost broke in his fat rolls. He turned around and yelled and a girl in her early twenties ducked behind him and pulled me over in between her and Roxas and some other cosplayer, who I can't remember quite what they were, as they screamed at the fattie.

saved from molestation, yesss. Thanks, random cosplayers. :3

I was working security in costume and I had to mend something. While going up, I saw that a mom and a daughter were looking for an ATM.
It was a late Saturday already and the ATMs always break by Friday afternoon. So, I assumed she was new to the whole thing.
I waved to the little girl to show her I was friendly, she waved back. I turned to her mom and she explained that she came here from a couple of tons over to see a friend.
She added that the badge people wouldn't give her a bade with a credit card and she brought no cash. I told her to hold on a moment while I fixed my jacket. I came back and walked them over to the badge counter. I asked if I could get two badges.
They asked for like 35 dollars or something and I pop my wallet out and pay for it. I turn back to the mom and girl and give them both badges. I smile and ask them to have a good time. I have never felt better in my life.

I really loved working security. Pic semi related, cosplayer at the con.

Saved a kid from a "private photoshooting" in a closed hotel room with a "professional photographer" without any references. As in: Overheard that this 40+ guy asked the maybe 12 or 13-year-old girl if she wanted to wear the sailor fukus he kept in his hotel room for a private photo session. She asked if he could just bring them here so she could change in the bathroom, and he said no. She asked if she could bring a friend and he said no. Uh-oh. He finally managed to talk her into it and when they were about to leave when I just grabbed her by the hand, yelled something like "She has to go now, asshole" and dragged her away.
I informed con staff but we didn't find the guy again.
No loli pics, I know the majority of 4chan does not approve, lol

If any Germans happen to read this... the flyers they gave to everyone on Ani 08 with the information that you shouldn't follow any strangers into their hotel rooms - that was because of me and that girl D:

Once, at a really small con, I kept running into the same lolita, often enough to recognize her parasol when she left it behind...four times. I returned it to her each time.

At a really huge con, I was volunteering at the registration desk and left my DS behind. One of the staffers I'd been working with saw it on the desk and thought, "Oh, Anon will miss this!" Cue me frantically looking for it for two hours (with two different staffers walking all over the con with me to find it), only to run into the first staffer, who flagged me down and told me where he'd put it for me. Love con staff!

I once had a con outfit that ended up with a hole burned right through it because of a leaky battery on the LED light power pack (this is why I never buy dollar store batteries ever again) a day before the con. All that effort, GONE. That didn't phase me from going to the con though. Somewhere on the border of insanity, I came to terms with the loss, and I made myself an ammo belt of hot glue sticks, two holsters for hot glue guns, safety pins, a needle set, threads of all colors, a portable power supply, a small set of acrylics, my leftover sculpey and sandpaper, E6000, and a trusty roll of duct tape.

I then went around for the next three days in a green flak vest and red bandanna fixing staves, stitching seams, repainting props, re-attached a heel of a shoe that split from the base, and countless other wardrobe malfunctions. Before the second day had ended, my power supply was drained and some people helped me secure an outlet so I could keep working. There was no shortage of people needing help that weekend, and I made a lot of friends there along the way.

One of these days, when I miss the masquerade registration, I will do it all over again.

So my hicktown decided they should have a tiny anime convention, fine. And the con staff is a bunch of bored assholes, fine. They only had a tiny coat-check room-thing, where you can leave your stuff, and they didn't have extra coat check staff or something, and the two con staff members who were supposed to watch after the staff left because they were bored - so they just left everyone's backpackets, sleeping bags, props and whatnot alone.
Half off the stuff was stolen after the first con day, including my sleeping bag, grrrrrrr.
    To my excuse, it was expensive and really, really comfortable ;_;
Yeah, and other people had their wallets stolen and everything. Con staff mysteriously vanished from planet earth. First and last con in my town.

There was a lockdown at a con a few years ago, before the masquerade was set to begin. I was sitting in the overflow room with friends, where we were going to watch the masq streamed live from the next room over. Con ops volunteers came in and started telling people that a girl was missing, and said her name and age. I knew her name, as she was a friend/pen pal of mine, but the age they were telling everyone was wrong - they were telling people she was either 12 or 13, when she was 17. This resulted in not only a lockdown but an Amber Alert.

Before they went around handling the situation badly by telling everyone to "get the fuck on the ground," I managed to get upstairs in the hotel and ask friends where she was. The girl had gone outside to chat with her boyfriend, so she wasn't even in the hotel. Upon returning downstairs, I was told to GET ON THE ROUND but I calmly told the volunteer in question that I knew who and where the "missing girl" was. They took me to the head of con ops, who told me that the whole thing was a result of the girl's ride (probably some friend's mom) showing up and not being able to find her - when she asked con ops to help her, they locked down the entire hotel. When I insisted that she wasn't even in the building at the time, they lifted the lockdown, everyone was able to get up and move around normally, and the masquerade could start.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the girl at the con since. A lot of misconceptions went around about her age and what she was doing at the time that would inconvenience so many people, so I can imagine she would've been pretty embarrassed about it. :(

This happened a week ago at a con.

I was without a shirt on, talking to a friend of mine until suddenly I noticed a girl started to sway back and forth on her feet, she kind of slumped into a wall and I caught her. "Whoa whoa whoa...are you ok??" I said.

She said she was fine, she was just standing around for awhile and she had low blood sugar or something. I quickly got some free water for her and asked her if she needed anything. She said she didn't but that she needed to get to her panel at 2 or something.

Hotel staff came up to me asking for me to go to the pool or to my room since I couldn't go around the lobby/hallway without a shirt on, but I politely told them I was occupied since somebody almost fainted. I had a few friends in the location that was giving out free food, and without a con badge or anything, cutting in front of the line, I stepped in and had some asian person make me two sandwiches.

I told her that it didn't matter what the sandwich had in it, but I needed something with a lot of carbs or nutrition in it, so she put like tuna, cheese, turkey, some shit. I told her to make two, as I was hungry as well. I ate mine as I walked out and went out to look for her. I ran into a friend and I explained that I was looking for a particular girl, and luckily he knew who I was talking about so he took her to my panel, where she was just sitting around waiting for it to start.

Here I am, showing up, shirtless and just in slacks, handing her a sandwich. She thanks me profusely, even though she isn't sure if she could stomach a sandwich given how she was at the moment, but she was really thankful for the thought.

I left, I don't think I ever told her my name, I never got hers either.

Well...since you're OP and you asked, I shall tell it.
I was dressed as Adiane at Fanime one year and was approached by some cute Asian chick. She took a picture of my costume, then handed me a ticket to an event--turns out you could meet the people of GAINAX studios and the event was starting in an hour. Tickets were really limited, so not even the emcee at Stage Zero was giving out any more. I had to leave by the time the event started, so I didn't really have a use for it. I went up onstage and asked if I could give it away, he gave me the green light, and I asked if anyone wanted it. This completely adorable girl in a really nice frilly black lolita dress up front got on her knees and pretty much begged (in a nice...not shout-y, Narutard-y kind of way) for it. I told her I'd give it to her in exchange for a hug. I still don't think I've seen someone so excited since then. I thought she was going to explode in a burst of black lace and bits of fabric. Still get the warm n fuzzies thinking about it.

Goddamn, what the fuck is wrong with you? Interrupting photoshoots is god-tier douchebaggery.

Keep it up. Enjoy getting your badge taken away for disorderly conduct. It's faggots like you that ruin the con for everyone else.

You cunts are far worse than any narutard could possibly hope to be.

I was in a production of "Oklahoma!" in a skit. I played the part of Mutey the Mailman. They had too many kids so they made up roles like that. I was good.

you must be a newfag. Story goes that the shoots he bombed were full of god-tier narutard hambeast assholes. The said narutards were the rudest con-goers you ever met, and ruined the con for everyone else, until Decade decided to serve them some justice.
So take your newfaggotry and fag it up elsewhere, moron.

What are you talking about? this is photobombing which is quite funny, and if it was only one picture, get over it.

One time when I was cosplaying ANH Leia, a mom came up to me and told me that her little girls thought I actually was Princess Leia. It was the cutest thing that's ever happened to me.

At a con last year, I'm not sure how but I lost my wallet. Somehow it managed to get passed around between congoers and managed to get to a bunch of lolitas in a fashion show before going to con security.
I managed to get it the day after the con with my $350 intact. I still nearly cry at the kindness of those people.

I helped Haruhi find her jacket. She was wearing Kyon's but left it in the vendor's room so we spent like an hour looking for it, but later in the hotel restaurant we find Kyon eating with the coat on the back of the chair.

I got a group hug from both Haruhi and Kyon before I went about the business.

That was me who you helped out, and seriously, I was so thankful even though I couldn't get more than a bite down. At the very least, getting me that water got me through the panel until I could go back to my hotel room and spend the rest of the night lying down drinking gatorade.

I swear, even not taking into account how often I end up half-passed out at cons (I have very very low blood pressure so I get dizzy easily), I've seen way more awesome people at cons than skeezeballs. Awesome people turning in badges, helping out strangers, returning wallets, or basically just being nice. It's the whole fans helping fans mentality that I wish more people subscribed to. This thread is wonderful.

Shit. All I've done was ensure the evacuations from the hotel were done in a calm, orderly fashion every time the fire alarm goes off for whatever reason. Fire safety is serious, even at a con.

It was my first time going to a con, I think I was around 13 years old. I wasn't cosplaying, just having fun with my friends(who were cosplaying). Somehow I got lost and ended up in a very deserted section of the con, WTF-ing and scared. Then this creepy guy (40+) walks up to me, puts his hand in my shoulder and asks me if I'm lost. Speechless, I just stand there, and he starts running his hand through my hair and saying that I'm cute and that we can go wait for my friends on his hotel room. I politely refuse, and he says "Are you sure? We could do lots of fun things while we waited for them" and he started to feel my entire fucking body as I tried to push him away.
BUT THEN a 20 year-old guy who probably overheard the conversation suddenly took my hand, saying that I was his friend and that "he was sorry he lost sight of me". I almost cried of happiness and relief, but then the old man said that I had dropped my cellphone and that he had it (cue creepy ass pedo smile), so the nice guy became very pissed and started shouting something like "give that shit back or I swear you'll go to a fucking prison you sick motherfucker" or something like that.
Thank you immensely, kind con-goer! You are my hero!

See all these stories of "old/fat/creepy guy started rubbing X body part and asked me to go to his room, until white knight Y saved the day and said "unhand her you rapscallion!""? Well, to me that sound like the 20 year old is the real pedo but that he's just failing at his plan. You send someone scary after your target first and they'll cling to whoever "saves" them. Cue the statutory romance.

Last London MCM I went to, I saw a girl who must of been around 12-14 years old, on her own in cosplay. She seemed very stressed and was looking at many of the terminals with a confused look. Being the slight casualfag /cgl/er, I didn't know who she was cosplaying as but I approached her with my friends and asked if she was going to the con. She said she was but she didn't know the way and she was supposed to meet her friend at the centre but her phone died. I offered her to tag along with us and if she needed to phone them, she could use my mobile. We got to the con and she met with her friends and gave me a big hug. Saw her later on and she seemed really happy ^^

TL;DR: Helped a girl get to a Con who seemed hopelessly lost, warm-fuzzies gained.

oh wow hi actually crying now oh god

It's really nothing big and I think I've told the story here once before, but there was a 12 or 13-year-old girl at Sakuracon last year in mismatched-orange clothes, cardboard wings and pipecleaner antenna. I was like "...Excuse me, are you cosplaying Dragonite?" She completely lit up and got really excited and was like "You're the first person all weekend to know who I am!" It's really little compared to some of the stuff in this thread, but I think it made her day and it made mine to give someone her age a reason to love cosplaying.

    Pic related, precious little egg.

My friends and I have a "bail out" plan if one of us gets harassed by someone that won't leave one of us alone.
It's pretty simple..one of us will run up to the one being harassed with a cell phone and be like "Hey, _____! It's your Mom!"
This way the person being harassed can excuse themselves and just walk away.
If they continue to be followed, they simply hang up the cell and say "Sorry..I gotta do something for my Mom real quick! See ya later!"
We've used it a few times and it's always worked.

It's not about "Being a con hero", you can't spend the entire con looking for "pplzz en ned of sewport", if you see someone being a fucktard without the people at the con noticing, you best sort it out motherfucker.

My friends and I have a game plan where if some creepy person hits on them, they give me the signal and I toss them over my shoulder and start heading in some random direction untill the creeper is out of site. I'm a girl so usually they get really confused and don't attempt to follow.
