09/25/09(Fri)01:52 No.2178720>>2178690 Well,
last year was just a bit [crowded] boatload of fail because a) the
venue was way too small, b) some of the staff was mean to the congoers
and c) the congoers themselves were immature.
Katsu has ALWAYS
been known for it's less-mature audience (they were kicked out of the
hotel they were at after '08's con because the congoers damaged the
hotel severely) so if you're going for a mature con, Katsu isn't the
one. But last year it was super crowded and there was lots and lots of
drama on the staff and the board and whatnot, leading the Chairwoman
herself to quit (I'm a big fuzzy on the details myself but you can read
her resignation post on the Katsu boards).
This year they have a
new chairman who's been less than dutiful...he's been skipping meetings
and a lot of board members are quitting because they don't feel that
they're being treated fairly. Because of that, it's caused registration
to be backed up and people have started to notice why they can't
register online and it's more or less because they just started working
on the registartion deal a few weeks ago because of all the drama.
There's
more to it than that but basically that's it in a nutshell. Who knows,
maybe things will straighten out and it'll be the best convention
ever...all I know is I have a few friends who are staffers and one is
now head of registration and he told me, basically, "Don't go to katsu
this year if you want an organized convention" |
