So how far do you generally travel to your cons? I never go to any myself because

    1. I wouldn't even know where one was near me and
    2. It would probably be 6+ hours travel

    (btw, I live @ 37°57'14.89" N 80°44'36.71" W elev 2488 ft. find me if you can!!!!!)

Well.. I live in Denmark (Dur hurh.). Last year I went to Abunaicon in Holland.
And next year I will go to AX and SDCC in the US.
.. I dont think I need to say any more.

I basically took the 2 down to my first Anime Convention.

I have driven seven hours to Otakon, but I may be planning on going to Anime Central next year which is around the same travel time.

Anime Boston, AX, and Comic Con are a little bit beyond my reach, but I could do it.

I live in the Southwest of England, if I could travel anywhere further than England I would, but fuck the costs, no chance for me.
    >> Anonymous 07/26/09(Sun)15:54 No.1995527
I just take the subway. I've never gone out of the city, but I'm considering biting the bullet and taking a bus to ANext or Anime Boston next year.

Yeah I know. I have a friend that goes to Harvard and I want to see if I can crash at his place for a weekend during the convention. I've heard good things about AB with the Tetris and Duck Hunt skits the last few years, but nothing good I heard about the convention this year though.

The only problem that hurts me is finding a cheap ticket to Boston. Ever since Jet Blue decided to leave my city because from competition from an airline that's now out of business, it's expensive to fly there and I have class so driving is out of the equation.

I've been flying to a lot of cons, since I live in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. I've been enjoying cons outside of CA more recently anyways. Although for some odd reason, AX was a lot of fun (didn't expect that one.)

But I really enjoy traveling to new places regardless of whether there's a con or not, so I like to try and make a mini-vacation out of it.

Wait since when did ANext start holding the convention in June? It's just the time I got out of school for summer.

One more thing, I could try to get a passport and go to AnimeNorth. It's interesting that one can live a days drive to 50% of the country.:)
    >> Anonymous 07/26/09(Sun)16:05 No.1995555
NanDesuKan is about four hours away and that's the easiest to get to. been to AX a couple times, so a ways, but i've always flown to cali, a drive like that sucks.

Must be nice. I quite literally live in the middle of nowhere, it's so off the beaten path it takes a month just to pump the sunshine in at the start of summer (but only a day at the start of fall and winter). The closest cons to where I live would be probably Katsucon in DC or Anime mid-Atlantic in Hampton, Virginia, both about 8 hours drive (buses? from here? don't make me laugh)
    >> Gen.Gerard !!QLOd1qNGj07 07/26/09(Sun)16:15 No.1995574
Well twice a year I drive for 8 hours from Lake Tahoe to Los Angeles for AX and ALA, once a year I drive 3 1/2 hours to San Jose for Fanime, and once a year I drive and hour and a half to Sacramento for Sac-Anime. so yeah car trips of many different lengths.

Hasn't ANext always been in June? It used to fall on Father's day weekend most of the time meaning no one showed up on Sunday...
    >> Rei Rei 07/26/09(Sun)16:35 No.1995604
Well, I'm crazy and have never been on a plane before/don't have the money for a $200+ plane ticket. I rode all the way to Baltimore by bus and car from Nashville, Tennessee.... orz Officially the farthest I've traveled for a con.
