I don't think I've ever really seen one doing it right. Then again there has to be someone doing it right.

I hate the term. I really, really hate it.
Why can't we/they just say "guy in a lolita outfit"
That aside, I've never seen one that didn't look like shit, inb4 all lolitas look like shit, but seriously some guys need to learn how to pluck eyebrows and apply non-smudgy make-up

I'd like to see brolita's doing it right too. I think it's really hard for western men to do brolita right, though, since most of western men have really broad shoulders and tick arms, and generally really masculine faces. I've only seen asian men pull of cross-dressing really well.
Also, if you're an aspiring brolita: please shave your legs. If you're not willing to do that, the wear DARK BLACK tights to hide it. If you're not willing to conceal or get rid of your arm and leg hairs, GTFO lolita right now.
    >> Anonymous 07/25/09(Sat)19:55 No.1993305

you're on the right track. your chest seems really broad and flat though, which will definitely give you away. If you can find a corset that you can wear to shape your waist and torso, get it. Also get a water bra.
Your petticoat could also be poofier. And time to get some shoes. Make up could probably help you look a bit more female too.
    >>1993642
No, that wig looks frizzy and fake as hell. Comb it down till it's smooth. Also, a wig won't help you that much if you're still masculine for lolita.

I'm a chick and I don't actually wear make up XD Imo I look worse in make up, and my bf has said I have a natural beauty so I actually avoid make up if I can and only put them on for fun.
For you though, I'd look for guides and tips that will draw attention away from your nose. You have what seems like a greek nose, which is very masculine and prominent and a lot of sculptors back in the day loved those kind of noses. It's actually really hot if you weren't trying to be a girl, lol.
I'd look for make up guides that tells you how you can play down your prominent nose bridge.

Also, it's smart of you to wear long sleeves. Brolitas should definitely wear long sleeves if they have masculine arms. If you're comfortable wearing heels, do so too as it will help give that feminine stance.

get a corset, it'll help good sir/madam. I have one and it's wonderful. and it isn't too expensive for brolita purposes. Mine was aboue 150 bucks for a 24" fabric corset. (cinched to 27" in this pic)

As much as I like the Lolita aesthetic, being a brolita has never crossed my mind. That being said, I'm six feet tall and about two hundred pounds, so that would pretty much be an instant fail of the most absurd proportions. I am interested in trying out Dandy at some point though, although I'll probably just stick to steampunk.

Again, I'm pretty incompatible with being a brolita. Too many muscles and scars, etc. I generally scare the living crap out of most people who meet me, at least initially. It doesn't help that I'm quiet either, people tend to think I'm just this really angry tough guy. It's a pain in the ass honestly.

see what size it is, if its your first time it'll reduce your waist by 2-4". or else, you won't be able to breathe. but once your ribs start getting flexible you'll be alright

i went from a waist size of 34 going down to as low as 32" in '07 to today at 31" to as low as 26.5" it works, i swear by 'em.

    >>1994186
    >>1994160
its funny because i was inspired by a brolita who was...towering and he simply said "why not". I realize you didn't have to be "gay" to do it...you can just simple like frilly things.
weight will matter at one point as you go up but it doesn't matter as much as you think...

sorry to bring back a nearly dead thread, but to answer >>1993883 glasses might actually add more focus to the nose :P I can't tell you for sure, but the best thing to do is to go to eye wear stores and try on their glasses. I don't want to mislead you on that one, but try on different glasses to see for yourself
    >>1994030
For dresses with bows on the back, your best bet is to put on the dress and tie a loose bow on your back, just to see where the bow can sit without stretching your dress too tight and making it look all ugly. Then take off the dress without taking off the bow (if that's possible) then tie the bow into a nice bow. http://www.wikihow.com/Tie-a-Bow-on-the-Back-of-a-Dress and http://jessicola.wordpress.com/2008/10/03/how-to-tie-a-dress-bow/ can show you how to tie it better.
If that's not possible for whatever reason, see if the ties are removable, and purchase a large pin-on bow instead. Hope this helped and hope to see more nice looking brolitas in the future :3
    >>1993867 as for you, my friend, please2be getting that crappy hair out of your face and learn2put on make up. Nothing screams brolita more than you trying to hide your face.

Well TECHNICALY EGA is supposed to be androgynous- no one really pays attention to that , but it's impossible to cross dress in EGA because the clothes are the same for both sexes. Corsets, long skirts, blouses, swallowtail jackets, jabbots, gloves- MMM and brands that sell similar cloathes often have a mens section, which is basically long skirts, corsets, pants ect. in men's size.

Not sure about the hat though..

She has some really AMAZING makeup tips:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nJXK5EJEQA

You should try getting some fake nails!
long-fancy nails could add that extra amount of femininity and grace.

One last thing, you should try trimming up the bangs of your wig.
At the length that they are right now,
it places more emphasis on the ridge of your nose
    than on your eyes.
and you want a good flow from your eyes,
over to your cheeks, and down to your lips. :)

here, have some delicious links and copy pasta

'Aristocrat fashion as a whole is often labeled in Western fashion as “Elegant Gothic Aristocrat” or “EGA”, but the term applies only to the line of clothing in Moi-même-Moitié.

The style itself centers on the concept of androgyny and often has identical outfits for both men and women. The clothing is usually limited to black, white and dark colors, and the main image is founded on elegance and simplicity. EGA makes up half of the Moi-même-Moitié fashion lines; the other half being EGL, or Elegant Gothic Lolita, which differs from EGA in that it’s strictly dresses, combining Goth fashion with Lolita fashion: the image of expensive French porcelain collectors’ dolls.

The clothing lines are usually simple and tight, with pants or long skirts that stand in contrast to the Lolita style.'
