The trips weren't first either. There were a couple Canadians who did it way before any of them here did it. This shoot was done in July of 08, and while not the best costumes, they were the first I ever saw (non-asia).

I don't think it's terrible. It's a typical fighting game with an extremely confusing storyline that you only understand if you read up on it online.

It doesn't have to be OMG BEST FIGHTING GAME EVER for it to be okay for people to cosplay it.
Regardless of how good/bad the game is, doesn't change how good/bad the cosplay is.

Seriously, what's everyone's deal with this game? A lot of people dislike it (including a good chunk of the NorthEast GG community I know.....) and have yet to give me a reason why.

Although I can't speak for everyone who dislikes it, I will be the first to admit that I was never averaging good with fighting games. Hell, I was so unskilled with Street Fighter I couldn't even pull off Ryu's and Ken's 3 special moves until I was in training mode for EX 3. Even with that, I have a bit of difficulty using the shoryuken at will. I think the fighting style and learning curve are possible turn offs for games like BB.

Have you actually played through storymode? Not getting hussy here, just curious. When I first saw images/specs/all that crap I didn't really care about them. Some of the designs were cool but without their respective personalities they were really boring. I finally got to playing storymode and I started to like most of the characters a LOT more because of said personalities.

Simply put, it lacks the necessary fundamentals that make a 2D fighting game good. Sure, you have a thousand defensive options, but none of them are good, and I don't like any fighting game that doesn't give me a sound method of defense.

Not that I support the Guilty Gear vs. BlazBlue argument, but seriously bursting and the like were perfect in that game, and Aksys just went ahead and fucked it up in BlazBlue.

...pretty much negates your validity in everything you've been arguing. Aksys publishes and localizes games, genius. They have nothing to do with the battle engine.
Arc System Works (and I think some of the Guilty Gear staff?) were the ones who "fucked up," as you so eloquently put it.
