My first con was AUSA 2005. I was working at Toys R Us and some kid said I looked like Asuma from Naruto. I went along with it, and made the costume. The con was right up the road, so no need for hotels.

My entire con consisted of standing at a pillar for hours at a time. It actually led to being brought into a skit. If anyone remembers it was the last skit in the lineup, and the only lines were "Giggity giggity giggity, alright".

Met a lot of my current friends there, and they eventually introduced me to my now fiance. Had a blast, all thanks to standing in one spot all day.

Was there a particular reason for staying in that one spot?

None really. I was so overwhelmed with what there was to do, I froze, so the pillar was my home for the weekend.

Ah I know the feeling, my first AX was really exhausting. Had to sit down every 30 minutes. Least I lost weight.
