My friend chose to go to Anime Expo over Tokyo in Tulsa, which is like the local con but she wouldn't go to Naka-kon in KC which I went because she wanted to save money to go to ACEN. Money, don't think so.

A friend of mine had an internship in Washington D.C. so I decided to crash there for Otakon this year.

I'm not going to do that again for next year's Otakon if I can go.

For me, it's seeing which cons are near me. I'm in FL, so there's plenty to choose from. From there it's, 'do I need to be out of town on that day?'. 'Do I have money to attend the event?'. 'Do I have a new cosplay I want to wear? If not, are my friends I only ever see at cons/haven't seen in a long time going to be there?'

If all answers are positive its a yes. Not much to it.

That's cause Nakakon sucks. I'd only go if I got paid to go, so I respect their choices choosing other cons.

That's only because she likes the big cons and is willing to shell out a ton more money just to go to them, just like the big names in cosplay. They think they are too good fo the smaller cons but didn't the big cons start out small like Naka-kon? Yep. If more people attended the smaller cons, they could grow as big as the big cons. All I say is give the smaller cons a chance, ven if they are closer to you than AX or Otakon.

My choices are usually based on-
Distance from my home- If it's a 2 or 3 hour dive, I'm going no matter how small or crappy it is.
Now if it's something I would need to fly to, then it depends on money, guests, and size.

If it's within a day's drive, I'm going to it.
