Anyways, MY Otakon WTF. I've been hassling my friend for six months to get our group cosplay in gear. I helped her pick out a wig since she got the costume last year, and she was having a friend be an extra character.

She calls me up last Thursday and says, "oh, Umm....well, the wig we [or rather, I] spent a long time picking out won't come in time because i havn't ordered it yet...but I found another one!" It's not nearly as good, but whatever. I'll live.

So I ask about her friend being the other character. She says, "oh. I meant to tell you this a while ago! She can't order the dress because she doesn't have paypal and [insert more bullshit excuse here]. Buuut we can pull something out of her closet and see if it works!"

So now I have one character with a shitty wig and another with NO COSTUME.

SO, since I have paypal, I decide to be nice, and I buy the fucking dress. But it hasn't even been shipped yet. And it's not coming in time. And if they don't give me my fucking money back on Thursday, I'm going to rip out their spines and beat them with it.

SWEAR TO GOD I WILL.

I'm with you on the Otakon stress, though mine's way more minor.

I've got everything I am supposed to have done, done, but I'm still waiting on part of one of my costumes being sewn by a seamstress friend (I did most the costume, but due to time constraints handed her the cut-out pattern and fabric, etc. just to put together while I worked away on the rest). When I last went in for a fitting we were kindof on different wavelengths on how we thought it was meant to look and it turns out it was too big, too. I'm to pick up the (hopefully) better-fitted version tomorrow but oh I'm so nervous there will be something wrong that's too late to fix.

This is what I get for being at the mercy of others! BAH!

I just had the best fucking idea i've ever had, cosplay wise, and no time to implement it. Now i've gotta wait a year.

Convention is four and a half weeks away. I'm making good progress on most of my costumes and don't really have a lot to worry about, as long as I keep plugging away at the rate I've been going.

Nonetheless, last night I had my first OMG IT'S THE DAY OF THE CON AND I HAVEN'T FINISHED ANYTHING dream. I hate those dreams.

I had the same dream two weeks leading up to a con last year. Every. fucking. night. And the things I was missing just got more and more bizarre each dream. I swear, in one, I couldn't use my luggage because some cat had had kittens in it or some shit and they couldn't be moved. I live on the 4th floor of an apartment building. And own a huge duffle bag, anyway. I STILL woke up sweating.

Oh, and Thursday will be my first time taking the Greyhound on my own. It's dumb, but I get so nervous. What if I don't get off at Downtown Baltimore?! WHAT IF I DON'T GET A CAB?!

I just found out yesterday that not only am I not getting the costume I sent out for tailoring back in time, I'm not getting either of the custom props I ordered, either. Serious O SHIT moment when I realized that I have to make an emergency run to the craft store tomorrow to try to throw something together so I don't look like a retard in a half-finished costume.

I've cosplayed before but I'm doing my own costume all by myself this year and I'm so worried I'll fuck up something easy and I'll look retarded and fat and ugly and omg. It's for AnimeIowa, a whole month away, and I'm nearly done on the costume but I can't see it all coming out right and I'm so worried. I don't wanna be a perfectionist yet that makes me feel cheap and when I do then I can't do anything right.

I'm doing the scarf now. It's not dyed but just red/orange/yellow sewed together. It won't be all floaty either. The ribbons I hand sewed, but they're kinda floppy. I added little wire pipe cleaners to try and get them to stick up. Boots are painted, but I need the flaps. Haven't worked on headband but I have the cloth. Top and Skirt and arm things are done. And for the love of god I can't find thigh high/over the knee, white, non sheer, socks. Makes me rage. No wig, I'm using my own hair. Pretty sure I would fuck up a wig.
