Fur isn't the right color, flower trim looks terribly unfinished, and the black cloth behind the belts is way too noticable -_- Just off the top of my head, I;m sure I could name more inaccuracies if I studied it.

The more of Limebarb's stuff I see, the more I wonder why people commission her.
    >> Anonymous 06/19/09(Fri)20:28 No.1920374
The fur is too flat and innacurate, and the belts would look better as real belts. I wouldn't pay.

Y'know, I read this girl's review of her experience with LimeBarb, and while I don't see that costume as being worth that much money, she seemed to be quite pleased with her costume. I don't see what else there is to discuss.

This. Who cares, she likes it and thought it was worth the money, so good for her. A satisfied customer. I probably would've raged if that's what I got, but its not my costume and I didn't pay a dime for it, so it's all good.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Just because someone is content with being swindled doesn't mean it's okay to get swindled. It just means the person in question is a moron and doesn't know what costumes go for.

No one gives a shit if some brain dead asian woman was happy getting shat on. Thank you for being equally brain dead by completely missing the point.

You ever think she might have asked Barb to do the costume a specific way before you started talking shit? I have no idea if that's what she did or not, but you faggots are way to quick to judge shit without knowing dick about it.

Ok? I don't give a shit if someone paid for it or not. Fact is it's a shitty, shitty costume, and Limebarb has shit for construction skills.

"I specifically requested that the costume be made of pleather, the edges of the floral design be embroidered, and the corset be as real as possible. I also originally wanted metal belt buckles for the front of the dress but she advised me that this would make the dress very heavy. I trusted her professional opinion and appreciated her feedback."

The thing is. She could of probably gone to someone like God Save the Queen Fashions, paid the same amount and gotten a hundred times better quality and accurate costume. Sure the points of Lulu are all there but they are done pretty damn poorly.
While I agree that it's probably not our business to rip on the woman, it's acceptable to be pissed at Limebarb because there are others out there who could have done much better with that sum of money. How much are real belts at a thrift store or Salvation Army?
    Really, there's no excuse.

Bull, my sister's dress had all real belts with no sagging. But then again she's kind of a domestic goddess and OCD. Come to think of it, she should start selling costumes.

..That kind of makes me mad.
I'm sure that partially true, but when you're going for a costume like Lulu's you should be able to put up with a little extra weight. Also, it kind of feels like Limebarb didn't want to deal with metal buckles so she talked the commissioner out of it by making a negative assumption.

I'm currently almost done with making my Lulu costume, and of course I looked up other cosplayer's Lulus.
most cosplay sites have their Lulu costumes as their most expensive at about 550$
so I really don't see that much upset about the price of a self made one, but daaayuum, that's one ugly OP dress.
at least with <----this dress, you get accurate sleeve length and a better floral trim. OP's looks like grade schoolers attacked it with markers

and I used real belts (from hell yeah Goodwill) and yeah they're heavy, but like any real dress I can just pick it up and carry it.

Give me a fucking break. My friend cosplayed a slightly less crappy Lulu cosplay and her belts were real leather belts with real metal buckles of all different sizes and weights. She had no trouble getting around. This Limebarb bitch sounds like they were cutting a LOT of corners and didn't feel like putting in the effort to make it it more accurate to the character.
    >> Anonymous 06/20/09(Sat)01:53 No.1921045
She could of looked up some online tutorials on how belts are made. I'm all good for hand making everything, but they could of looked like belts with the right research.

    >>Some of the buckles on the dress were coming off when I got the costume. It was pretty easy gluing them back together. The dress was a little big around the waist but that was hidden underneath the corset anyway. The cord that she included for the corset was not long enough to tie it up so I had to buy an additional cord on my own. The bangs for the wig were a little short and pushed back for Lulu. I plan to improve it before I wear the costume again. But that's pretty much the end of my complaints.

as far as I can tell, this chick is just too nice. She should of given her a bad review, not just a "hey, um I dunno, its alright I guess". For that price, she should of got something of excellent quality. Its because of people who are too nice that rip off merchants like Limebarbs's "business's" are still alive

She's either very new to cosplaying or is just that nice. IMPO you shouldn't have to "improve" an $800 commissioned cosplay.

Jesus. Makes me rage. I wanna commission a Lulu from GStQ, keep the price at $900, then email Limebarb and say "So, what was your excuse for producing such crap instead of something like this?"

It still ceases to amaze me why people still comission from barb. I mean, the other costumes are complete crap as well. In most of the photos, she hasn't even bothered to iron it, so all the seams look way more puckered and the garment is all wrinkly and shit.

The costumes, most of the time, have poor fabric choices amd emd up looking cheap

FOr what she charges, I'd expect alot more than what she actually produces. She has designer prices for very mediocre sewing.

As far as I can tell, shes a pretty shitty seamstress. The "clothes" in the premade shop are fucking terrible. Her "EGL" and corsets are probably the worst. She likes to cut corners

people really need to stop buying from her. That way, she would learn that you can't just produce and piece of shit because you're all "exclusive"
