35 KB /cgl/ is not helping humanity in any way... Anonymous 06/07/09(Sun)15:25 No.1887544
"I feel it's a waste of time cosplaying fictional characters because it's not helping humanity in any way," says Moshe, who wants to use his knowledge to change the world.

He has already graduated with a degree from East Los Angeles Community College.

For every one of you who stops cosplaying to help the world; I'm going to give 100 people AIDS.

It doesn't really matter to me. Not that his opinion matters to me or anyone on /cgl/.

What cosplay is, at least to me, is an expression of creativity and minor form of modeling. To say, modeling doesn't help either is true but creativity is one thing that humans use in most all aspects. To say that /cgl/ isn't creative is to say an artist or a musician isn't creative.

yea, cos making knockoff outfits based on TV shows and movies is REALLY creative M I RITE? And liek, so is knocking off or accumulating Japanese brand adult sized childrens clothes. Its like, just as creative as buying the fuck out of some American Eagle.

It's pretty much a standard way for some geniuses to circumvent normal educational channels in order to get ahead.

I knew one kid in HS that took night classes at the local CC in order to "get ahead" of his peers. While he managed to get the HS Diploma Equivalent several months before graduation, he was allowed to walk the line with his classmates.

Typical Asian-American over-educated bullshit... How many of these child genius people actually go on to be as useful as they think they are? Once they grow up and stop being an anomoly everyone notices that they're just a well educated person with the social skills of a gnat.

How many child prodigies have won Nobel prizes?
How many child prodigies have become world (or even state) leaders?
How many child prodigies have become college professors or educators?

They end up in research labs, stuck away from society like some kind of thinking machine.... yeah... turns out Mentats aren't as awesome as we thought... pic related.
    >> Anonymous 06/08/09(Mon)15:29 No.1889743
    FAIL.

How many cosplayers be winnin Nobel Peace Prizes, professorships, or achieving world leadership?

Answer - less than the number of "child prodigies" doin these things. Additionally if you have no degree and this kid has an associates this kid > you.

pretty sure u arnt just going to hang around doing nothing if you finish college at 11.

next thing you know you are going to be stuck in a dark corner in a lab for the coming decades while still thinking:

"i'm a child prodigy. i am going to fucking change the world. oh wait, mommy and daddy told me that i shouldn't swear... i will call them to confess my sins now."

He's not wrong, but he's short-sighted. Most of life doesn't help humanity in any way (ignoring the fact that the quote actually refers to video games and not cosplay...). But we have such irrelevant stuff to brighten up an otherwise mundane existence.
