Nah, I was cosplaying a bit today. My saturday costume gave me the chest burn. It's not even symmetrical because it's only on one bloody side gah. I'm making a big deal outta this because I honestly didn't think I would get a burn there.

Oh, I have a WONDERFUL story. I went to sleep friday night with a sore throat. Ok, no problem. I can deal. I wake up Saturday morning with a fever. Well that sucks, I'll tough it out. But fever gets worse through out the day, and by 4:30 I can barely walk straight to get to my car, because everything is burning and my head is a cinder block. I hardly ever get sick. I cosplayed for the first time, as Char Aznable from the original Gundam. It got a surprisingly great reception. Outdoor rave was fun, but due to a mixup none of the people I came with went to the J-Pop dance, so it felt kinda awkward just dancing on my own and I left pretty early.

I never realized how different an experience cosplaying makes a con.

Saturday went to the Subway and Pizza Pizza a little down the street for dinner. My sis dressed as Schrodinger and, my friend in a German officer coat and me with regular green US army gear and I thought we were going to get shot or something. Didn't look like a very nice part of town and the guy in the Subway restaurant wouldn't even talk to us. He probably thought we were a bunch of neo-nazis or something.

had a fantastic time at my 7th ANorth this year, ussually I spend too much time in the dealers room, but this year I spent like MOST of my weekend at panels, which is what I enjoy most, only actually ended up spending $13 on animu merch the whole weekend (and $30 on doll stuff). Haibane Renmai panel was like, the best I had ever been to, first half Anime Hell was entertaining as usual, Gaming was self-centered and bullshit as usual, only really paying attention to the people who spent all their time there. Kept up with my tradition of always going to "anime name that tune" and suggesting the anime was patlabor at least once. The ride home was nice this year, instead of the ussual "Goodbye ANorth D:" it was a nice gradual expirience, getting on the bus full of cosplayers, then getting on the subway with some of them, then transfering with a few of them... then riding home with one, then she leaves... augh, the end of sunday is so depressing, with evertyone outside for the most part, so much love to be missed the other 51 weekends of the year ._.

Was in an elevator by myself and a guy and a girl come in. The girl looks like she's drunk and underage, and has a pacifier in her mouth, and is falling over and giggling all over the place. Eventually she falls into the guy's arms. I ask the guy if she'll be all right. Then he informs me that she isn't drunk; she has CP. The girl follows this up by taking the pacifier out of her mouth and saying (with the kind of voice that corroborated the guy's story) "this is just me".

I was pretty stunned by the whole thing.

Up here, we take things seriously WRT ensuring that people don't get hurt. (Deciding on policy for yaoi paddles, in particular, involved a LOT of discussion.) You can always go to an American con (and take your chances); or if you just don't want the hassle, there are a zillion things you can cosplay that don't involve a prop weapon.

I was the Rufus Shinra in Pink Trouble, the winning skit for the Journeyman Division at the skit competition. Yes, the skit with the Materia that made you gay. I only wore my costume (if you could call it that, I didn't invest a lot of time) on Friday. I had a wheelchair and everything.

I had a generally a very good time. This was my second time at AN. I only bought American comics. Walked away with 17 trade paperbacks from the dealers for 217$ which is a really good deal.

The Samus Aran portrait was obviously gone, and I saw someone pick up the original "Kirby likes hats". The person packaging the thing was telling all the other staff to say goodbye to it.

No one cared about the pewter molds, or whatever they were made of. Probably not the best place to get those things auctioned.
