I could probably defend someone and confuse my opponent with large words and terms I've learned from watching too much Law & Order while I handsew, but I don't have a license to practice law.

Retelling this story cause Jimi asked me to. Those of you who've heard it, feel free to skip this post.

I drive fast. I drive *fucking* fast. That being the case, and coupled with the fact that cops love nothing more than to write petty, chicken-shit tickets for exorbitant amounts of money for retarded crap like not wearing a seatbelt, I've been pulled over an impressive number of times. I've lost count, but if I had to guess, I'd put it at fifteen now, give or take. About half of those times, I've gotten out of a ticket on the spot. Of probably half of the tickets I've gotten, I decided not to be lazy and have fought them in court.

So I've been to various district courts four times now. When I go, I go in cosplay; this motherfucker right here <--- Diego Armando, from Phoenix Wright: Trials & Tribulations. Suit, hair, earrings, everything but the Objection sign.

    >(continued)
Of the tickets I've contested in court, I've gotten all of them dismissed. Three on legal technicalities and loopholes, and one in which I was actually wrongly charged (I was charged for speeding in a 40, but I was really in a 45). For that one, I drove to down Olympia (only like half an hour away) to the Department of Transportation, talked to some some people and had official records printed up showing the actual speed limit of the particular stretch of road on which I was pulled over. In a grand turnabout, I presented this evidence and got a NOT GUILTY. Confetti rained down from the ceiling and everyone cheered.

...Or something like that. Everything up to the confetti is true though. The other three technicalities I've gotten off on were just pointing out minor shit like the officer filled out something wrong on the ticket and crap like that.

So that's as close to real lawyerin' I've done. I've taken a law class at a community college, but that's about as far as it goes. Only one judge has ever commented on my court room attire: he said I looked slick, just before he dismissed my case.

    /objection

    (also, when you see it...)

Now he just has to watch out for any Poker loving police officer. As long as he avoids that guy, the perfect record will continue.

Awesome story- it beats my courthouse adventures by a mile.

I've picked up about two speeding tickets, but at one point during college in a 3 month stretch of time I've received 3 parking tickets. Not only were the parking tickets given recklessly (we had a very brazen public security department), but the department also forgot to move the clocks on their ticket dispensers 1 hour back due to the time change.

    tl;dr I love technicalities.

i've fought the law on petty shit before, and won each time, with the exception being a set up for a case i'd shown up 3 times for; the court date looked like a xx/2x/xx on the citation they gave me, so the next time i showed up to court, i was 10 days late, as they said "you were supposed to be here xx/1x/xx" and already had a bench warrant out, so it was either turn myself in that day (regardless of admission of guilt) or get chased down at my house if i didn't come back by the following day...
as a result, i found out that county jail wasn't as bad as i heard it was, but i didn't stay long enough to really get into detail, as i was out within 2 days when the wardens found out the charges, circumstances, and where they'd sent me from (this courthouse has a rep)...

but winning against the law in cosplay does feel good, man...
and bricks were shat upon seeing it...
