This.
I'm the original one who bitched about it, and I've been taught since
elementary school that the flag should never touch the ground.
It
would have been okay if it was ONE picture with the flag touching the
ground, but the fact that the pole is too short and the flag is
touching the ground in every. single. photograph just makes me rage.
The idea for the flag not touching the ground is that it shouldn't be
soiled.
I was seriously taught this every single year of my
life throughout school. Trigger discipline is different--I didn't even
hear about trigger discipline until I got into cosplay, and even then I
still naturally put my finger on the trigger of a gun unless I'm
thinking about it.
But if you're holding a flag, you should
naturally want to hold it OFF the ground. At the very least, someone
should have told her to keep it off the goddamn ground. If I'm at a con
and posing for pics and I put my finger on the trigger of my gun, no
one yells TRIGGER DISCIPLINE!!! at me on the spot because only the
gun-familiar portion of the populus knows about it.
But if I'm
at a con, IN AMERICA, consistantly posing for pics with my flag on the
ground, I would hope that someone would correct my ass. Or at least
smack me for being dumb as hell. |
