alright cgl. i want to know your opinions!

what is the best state to be an anime fan/con-goer/cosplayer in?

is there any place that properly combines:
    good weather
    good cons
    at least half witted people
    attractive females
    active social entertainment

im in washington - im tired of the rain/snow bullshit, socially awkward fags who cry about everything, ugly/fat hoes who think they're models, sakura con and its PG faggotry, cool events starting and then dieing two weeks later...

is there a better place somewhere to the east or south, or maybe south east (not florida though, i heard the people are dumb as fuck there)

whats the best place to live!?

Connecticon. Connecticon is the best place to live.

Sakuracon. You get Girugamesh as a bonus.

I've been doing pretty well living in Southern California. We've got AX and Comicon.
    >> Anonymous 03/30/09(Mon)05:20 No.1738037
    California.

SoCal is pretty much the king of great weather, and NorCal isn't bad either. Plus we have big cons like Fanime/AX/Comicon/etc., coupled with small gatherings/ALA/Ycon/etc. so we can cosplay year round without ever having to leave the state. And almost everyone is awesome and nerdy and chill, we don't take ourselves too seriously but we do put effort into looking good. Plus LA Fashion District = costumer's paradise, only the Hong Kong garment road rivals it worldwide IMO.

Also I've been to an East Coast con, and wow is the atmosphere different. Plus I find that most drama lamas are clusterfucked in the East Coast. Honestly I blame the weather - everyone's so cranky because of the cold and thus really uptight, while in CA it's sunshine and rainbows.

Also in CA people are obsessed with healthy eating and working out to show off at the beaches, one of the best public university systems in the world, plus a huge mix of races and types, so there's plenty of delicious delicious intelligent women for everyone's tastes.

Not to mention we're an ocean away from Asia, so we have easy access to everything. Little Tokyo/Japantown FTW.

I never got the obsession with Little Tokyo in LA. They have some good (overpriced) places to eat, but it's hardly a weeaboo paradise.

Weeaboos feel like they're actually in Japan.

true. CA cosplayers are unquestionably hotter and more chill in general

op here. i noticed otaku booty project dot com a while back also. they had tons of hot chicks and yeah they were all pretty much in california...

anyone know much about how the medical field is doing down there? also, best low priced places to live in SoCal near the stuff mentioned - like cons and stuff.

i suppose i could go look up a convention map, locate a few towns and research them. thnx cgl! you've been great!

two evenings of this thread... results still say california. anyone wanna discuss why washington sucks ass?

i got a reason - stand off-ish-ness of everyone. people want to meet people, and everyone trys to act cool for that purpose. but everyone is afraid of everyone else. like they're going to get raped or something... shit sux

Pa, near Philly is nice. You get comic con, you can easily goto cons in NY and NJ as well as Otakon without much hassle, Plus you got fabric row in philly its awesome.

Don't forget Zenkaicon. That's a pretty fun little con too.

    PA.'s pretty ballin' I'd say.

This. I live in Allentown, with a lot of family in Philly, so it's damned convenient.
I almost wish Philly had a con, then I remember that that is a bad idea and should be purged from my mind with fire.

There really needs to be winter conventions.

I don't know why anime cons are addicted to heat...

Might help to specify where you are, 'cause we -have- Winter cons here on the East Coast.

VGXPO and WizardWorld are going to start giving each other additional content, apparently:
    http://www.videogame.net/vgxpo/attendees/wizardworld.html
Personally I don't know if that makes either of 'em any better or what.
    >> Oshi !pkMVShM4AY 03/31/09(Tue)08:27 No.1740911
Yeah, best thing about Philly is being centric to NYC and DC. I personally find the area itself a little boring though. But fuck yeah Zkon.

    >>1740769
An anime con in the city itself probably won't work too well. The logistics have been pondered by many groups; even Otakon said 'hell no' to the Penn. Convention Center. And then there was Tandokucon...
