the main thing i hate at cons are really long lines to events that are starting really really late. all of the other things, like bo, narutards, etc., i chalk up to youthful exuberance/indiscretion. i've gotten used to that and hardly notice it anymore.

I guess you could label me a 'Narutard' in a way. I do enjoy cosplays from it (though I work for accuracy and good costuming as I have with stuff in the past) and I love the manga. But 99% of the Narutards, the ones I would consider the meaning of that word, piss me off.

People who don't cosplay for their body type piss me off. I don't mean 'omfg they aren't 100% teh perfect body type' I mean 200 pound people in Faye outfit type things and super skinny girls in costumes meant for a girl with some meat on her bones, muscle, and/or actual boobs.

Cons that refuse to give the LARP group a decent damn room. Like ANext that put us on the second floor with actual hotel guests (instead of on the reserved first floor) and then got pissed when people complained we were noisy... (after, long before they picked a room for us, we warned them we were loud) or Katsucon that sticks us in tiny rooms with no windows or air. @_@

I think that's a very "male" interpretation of friendship. Chicks like to make friends yeah to do stuff together, but also because they feel emotional connections to people. There's an anime based LARP at nearly every con you'll go to. Depending on the con is what you can sign up for. ANext is Anime, Manga, and webcomic characters are allowed... if you sign up at the con you have to pick from a list.

Let's face it; we have a stupid hobby. Pay tons of money to wear something you'll literally wear less than 1% of the year, just to have strangers take your photos and post them on the internet. Yet conventions are still so much fun. Even if you don't know what the hell you see in it, chances are you're hauling ass back there come con time next year.

I don't mind the free hug stuff. I think it's cute and there's nothing wrong with spreading a little affection. Cons have always been about being friendly to each other and it's nice to see some public venues where people don't have to be afraid of being nice and interpersonal with each other.

Although the OP pic makes it look kind of suspect since it features some greasy-looking teenage guys in grungy clothes, you can see that there's actually a long line of them which includes girls as well, so I'm sure it's a bit more innocent than it seems.

At Supercon, I was Miku, with 100 cm pigtails attached to my wig. I actually went to go compliment someone's Kagami cosplay when the the Konata ran up and jumped on me. I almost died. Seriously.

And later, when I was combing out my hair with a few friends [helping me, of course] before the costume contest, her and Tsukasa came up again and hugged me. Like, while I was combing, and right ON the tangled part of the wig. I wanted to murder them.

They also hated Miyuki, so that was another reason.

Worst experience for this was last year at ACen. Went to a singing at around 10:30-ish, signing was at 11, there was about 20 people in front of me. Guy doesn't show up 'til 12:00-ish signs 9-10 people's merch and he kept chatting with them for so long that before we knew it, it was 1 and he was running late for a panel that started at around 12:30. All I had was one lousy poster for him to sign.

Probably not looking for autographs next year, unless they have extremely good guests, and I'm definitely not going to the masquerade anymore either. Been to the masquerade for 4 years and last year's sucked so badly. New hosts new to be replaced.
