Geez. None of my car trips have ever been like this...We always get driven by some sort of nazi woman, or the like. I can't be the only one who really doesn't like being in the car for 5 hours without a stop.

I've road tripped a few times from LA area up to Yosemite. So a good six hour drive. Keeping snacks and drinks in the car. Hitting bathroom breaks when we need gas. Usually when we hit Bakersfield(I always put that about half way there) we stop and have a meal.

The one time I road tripped up to Sacramento for a bowling tournament(back when I was a kid)

I was in a car with no A/C, the temperature was 111 degrees. God damn that was an uncomfortable trip.

I've got the biggest car, so I'm always the one driving. But I don't mind stopping every now and then to stretch my legs. We take forever to get to con, because we never leave when we say we are. "We're leaving at ten AM!" -later- "Bro! It's 3:30 PM! WE NEED TO LEAVE NOOOOOW!

From our house to Anime Next should have been an hour and a half, tops. Four hours later, we're still driving in circles in New Jersey. And my brother is never allowed to navigate again.

Once on the way to a con the tires exploded. Not even kidding. We were all fine though, so that was nice, but it did mean we ended up having to sit around for like an hour while some tire place put new ones on for us. Bah.

But then we went to eat at the Waffle House that was next door so all was well.

I love long drives. Fuck yes eating a ton of fast food and singing along eurodance crap from the 90's.

My con trips, excluding the con itself, usually lower my IQ about 10 points

Take the train to New Brunswick station, then take a bus up Easton Ave. Or have a friend pick you up.

Maybe from where you're coming from. From points north not so much. With the last location all you had to do was hop on the bus from port authority and you were dropped off right in the middle of everything. The new one is a train, then a bus that doesn't even run all the time,or on weekends. Manga Next proved that fault

Furthest I drove to a con was NYC to Chicago for ACEN 07. Never. Again. I was one of two drivers and I wanted to kill myself by the end of it. 13 hours.

Furthest I've flown was to Japan....that was.... WAY TOO MANY HOURS. Especially since we had the tiniest seats. Ugh, worst part ever.

I plan on taking the train up to Fanime this year (as I have no one to drive with anyways) I could fly but I'm terrified of planes. Plus Amtrak is really nice, pisses me off it doesn't go from here to LA though.
Getting out to Katsu is going to be a feat though, boooo.

Trains are like flights, they're a pretty good value for one or two people, but once you have more than that, driving becomes superior. For instance, I'm driving to ALA from the Bay Area with 6 people. Now, my truck doesn't get awesome gas millage, but the trip down should come out to like $10/person. Train can't beat that. If I was driving myself and it would be $60/person, well maybe then it would be viable.
