11/26/08(Wed)01:23 No.1442894Well,
I understand that you can be too extreme in your fandom that it makes
you socially inept, the fact is that she was having fun with her
friends at high school and there wasn't anything wrong with that. Yeah,
she wanted to get with a guy, and she had a crush on the "cool, good
looking" guy, but most girls I know are like that, anyway.
So
um, what does the show do (even if she was okay with it)? Sell out her
identity to turn her into a prim and proper girl who shows skin to get
guys and is into being a "material" girl? And in the end, the guy said
no (albeit for a halfway decent reason). So she ends up getting a guy
who's into WoW and games (and probably anime), a person LIKE HER (and
they said she'd have to adjust her expectations and find a guy with her
interests) after all that?
Moral of the story (and show) - you
can lie to yourself and pretend to be somebody else (hmm, not so hard
for some of cosplayers) to get popular or what you want, and be
miserable (like this girl was during those segments), or be yourself,
be happy, and you'll probably end up just all right in the end (though
it may not be in high school, college and beyond have possibilities,
too). Sorry, while the show had me interested for a bit, I utterly felt
horrible for that girl, even if she thought she knew what she was
doing. But oh well, can't wait for round two next year... |
