Attention extension/user script/archive developers: 4chan's new HTML will be going live tomorrow, Sunday the 13th, at approximately 12:00PM ET. Please have your new versions ready to roll by then.

Attention everyone else: GET READY FOR EXCITEMENT!! On Sunday we'll be rolling out our new imageboard HTML/CSS. Everything has been rewritten from the ground up and replaces code that is nearly a decade old. The designs will be 100% the same, but this should allow us and other developers to more easily modify and create add-ons for 4chan. Large threads should also render more quickly, and we also have a new mobile view for those on mobile phones. And a few other goodies.

We expect the migration to be pretty painless, but expect some wonkiness tomorrow afternoon. The Official 4chan Chrome Extension will be updated immediately, and has a bunch of new features and runs 3x faster than the old one, so be sure to grab that in advance.

This is stupid. American culture has always been about saying screw you to everyone and holding yourself up in a little territory that you've created for yourself.

It really bugs me how we like to think that we're all social and stuff and look down upon other cultures for not being social enough when all we care about is the little niche we're able to carve out for ourselves and never leave. Everyone in the U.S. does this. If you're not holding yourself up in the privacy of your own home playing video games, you're watching TV or reading books.

Not that there's anything wrong with it, though caring so much about ourselves and the little world we create around ourselves ends up coming around and biting us on the larger scale more often than not. This is the kind of stuff that we built our national policies on.

I used to have conversations with my friends about this.

Friday night would roll around and my mates say "yeah we are just gonna take it easy, have a few drinks and watch the footy." thats all well and good.

so i say "yeah im just gonna chill at home and play some games" and all of a suddens its "you fucking loser get a life havent you got better things to do etc etc." apparently im wasting my time but they are not.

when will people see that games are a leisure activity as valid as watching movies or reading books or playing golf?

Back then if you were a white male you most likely were guaranteed a job out of high school. Back then you white males didn't have to compete with women, minorities and people fro other countries like china who'd work for pennies.

Back then you could work at a factory, mine or a service job after high school and not suffer the social stigma of having those jobs. Now if you see someone having a job at a gas station or Mc Donalds or a factory people will deem you as a failure. Then there's the whole bullshit about universities that I'm not going to go into.

At the end of the day there's a lot of pressure on young males, whites in particular than there was half a decade back.

One way to combat this is a form of affirmative action towards young college guys. A government back initiative that allows young people to work in fields that they're studying in for pay with a sort of guarantee that if they fill the program requirements while in university they can be guaranteed a job in a company with prospects of upward promotions when they graduate. I see some of them already being applied to technical jobs and business jobs but not enough being applied to liberal arts or teaching jobs.

Btw Black Chemistry major. My major is useless unless I follow up and get a masters.

I work on commission and barely get by. I basically sell people security training for jobs. I make 100s if not 1000s of calls everyday of people who claim they want work, and we practically guarantee people jobs if they complete the training,and aren't drug addicts.

Out of maybe every 500 calls 13 people say they want a job and are willing to come in the next day. In reality maybe 2/3 show up, and usually only 1 of those people actually pay for the training. Most of the people that actually pay are people with college education, because they actually want a job.

In the interview process we usually ask if they are getting any use out of their degree and what it was in. I have seen to many people hurt by those words, the hate in their eyes, quite a few have broken down going on rants about how they did everything they were supposed to and still "failed". If you could see their faces /v/, words cannot describe the look of betrayal in their eyes, the feeling that all they worked for was for nothing.
