That's bullshit, because there was a Guinness official present. Again, I didn't participate, but everyone I know of that did spent MOST of Saturday there, because they had to go through a long, tedious serious of like.. qualifying, being counted and recorded, etcetc.

Guinness are really anal about evidence and qualifying since they pride themselves on being unrefutable, etc. So a lot of the time record attempts just end up getting thrown out unless the proof presented is air-tight.

I think the problem with a-kon was that the people there just assumed that the representative from Guinness would be their affirmation, but in reality they needed to make a formal submission of their evidence themselves as well.

I was a part of the A-kon attempt too. While I'm disappointed that it got thrown out on a technicality, it's not a huge deal. I personally found the event a lot of fun - especially when the Final Fantasy and Orange Box cosplayers started linking arms and singing.
