What? Toonami is ending? I haven't watched it in probably six or seven years, but ending? It feels like someone told me my grandma was going to be taken off of life support tonight. Toonami was such a huge part of my early-teen-hood. I remember rushing home from middle school so I could catch the new episodes of the second arc of Sailor Moon R. I remember my first anime crush on Quatre from Gundam Wing. I remember watching endless seasons of Tenchi Muyo I'd taped (along with SciFi's Anime Friday movie of the week) onto old VHS.

Fuck, I feel ancient. Like some kind of faery reveler that's going to crumble into dust next time I try to converse with the young people about Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers or something.

it's kind of started to be filled with cancer though, it only has like on true anime on it now and it's naruto, it could be so much better, it kinda lost the ami part of the name.

I had been interested in anime before I knew about Toonami, but because of it I was thrown into so many different series. If Toonami hadn't been around I doubt I would have become the con going insane cosplayer pervert I am now. I stopped watching Toonami around the time they started airing Rurouni Kenshin, it was starting to get kind of horrible, but it still feel like such a loss that it's gone.

Adult Swim is pushing back anime....Toonami is gone.....either anime on TV is dying altogether, or SciFi is gonna take over. As someone who both objects to and dislikes fansubs, this is sad news to me. Not to mention the nostalgia......however the only anime they've aired as of late was Naruto, and when things go crappy, that's usually when it needs to end.

Let me settle the "dubs vs subs" debate for those of you who missed out on the last ten Toonami threads.

One, saying that you hate all dubs in English is basically saying that you hate dubs in general - people seem to have this idea that all Japanese dubs are sacred and that nothing is ever wrong with the quality. This is a *gross* misunderstanding that is spurred on by a person's lack of knowledge and understanding not only of the Japanese language, but also of how it is spoken when in conversations, or whatever the scenario might be. Saying that you hate all English dubs is like saying you don't want to hear anything, you really just want a manga to read.

Two, how could you not like Steven Blum? Seriously. Not even one of the anime he's in? Seriously?

Three, I realize that many anime on the list had just fucking rancid dubbing. However, some, like, oh, Gundam Wing, Tenchi, and Outlaw Star, are known for pioneering the industry as excellent dubs. Don't believe the hype? Well, watch the Tenchi Muyo! dubs again - and make sure to watch the uncensored versions. I prefer the English dub to the Japanese dubs. Yeah, the first episode was kinda off, but at the time when it aired, they weren't even sure if they had enough money to keep dubbing it - until Cartoon Network agreed to air it.

Finally, and this is the most important - we've stated our opinions, now can we please turn back to the purpose of this thread? A program responsible for getting people into anime in the first place - and this includes most of the people that now sit on their thrones over the Narutards and legions of fangirls, looking down upon them with disgust - is being taken off the air after eleven years. It started dying ages ago, true, but it is still sad to see the program that got me into anime instead of just watching samurai flicks all day long get taken off the air. i actually generally like the chinese shops. they are so OBVIOUSLY over-the-top, the edit-work itself becomes part of the overall look. it's more than just taking out pimples and using the blur tool to smooth out wrinkles.
