09/21/08(Sun)07:49 No.1312469Let me settle the "dubs vs subs" debate for those of you who missed out on the last ten Toonami threads.
One,
saying that you hate all dubs in English is basically saying that you
hate dubs in general - people seem to have this idea that all Japanese
dubs are sacred and that nothing is ever wrong with the quality. This
is a *gross* misunderstanding that is spurred on by a person's lack of
knowledge and understanding not only of the Japanese language, but also
of how it is spoken when in conversations, or whatever the scenario
might be. Saying that you hate all English dubs is like saying you
don't want to hear anything, you really just want a manga to read.
Two, how could you not like Steven Blum? Seriously. Not even one of the anime he's in? Seriously?
Three,
I realize that many anime on the list had just fucking rancid dubbing.
However, some, like, oh, Gundam Wing, Tenchi, and Outlaw Star, are
known for pioneering the industry as excellent dubs. Don't believe the
hype? Well, watch the Tenchi Muyo! dubs again - and make sure to watch
the uncensored versions. I prefer the English dub to the Japanese dubs.
Yeah, the first episode was kinda off, but at the time when it aired,
they weren't even sure if they had enough money to keep dubbing it -
until Cartoon Network agreed to air it. |
