I'm still not sure if blogging for an anime site like that is the worst job you could have or the best.

On the plus side you get paid by the hit, so you can just write whatever bullshit you want and as long as people like /a/ link to it you'll get paid pretty nicely. Plus the amount of effort that goes into it has to be around ten minutes or so.

But at the same time you lose what little integrity you may have ever had.

I thought it was okay to watch (and I was one of the few who watched it diligently to the end on the day it was released) but I really don't see where the people claiming it's a masterpiece are coming from.

As an anime it was okay. Goofy, dull, entertaining, melodramatic, tortuously slow, lacklustre suspense - it was all of those things but leaned nearer to the negatives than positive.

>>
>http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/gargantia-on-the-verdurous-planet/episodes-1

>Occasionally, though, the series does some head-scratching things. Amy being a perky, curvaceous type with an obligatory pet (mascot!) squirrel simply reflects a typical anime flavor and appeal to fanboys, as are the subtle shots where the camera lingers a little too longer on a female character's chest or butt, but many viewers may look askance at some belly dancing routines in sexy outfits that she and her friends do in a festival episode. Yes, they are used partly to illustrate Ledo's first exposure to overt sexuality, but they go farther than that, and some may be uncomfortable with watching adult males hooting and hollering over sexily-dressed 15 year old girls. The sexy swimsuits in another episode and the voluptuous pirate queen and her kinky female minions in an earlier episode offer further awkwardly-inserted fan service departures, too, and the drag queen business in the swimsuit episode also feels oddly out of place.

So normal. It hurts. The comments on this review are even worse.

Something like Yamada is more popular, I'd say.

Neither really compare to the popularity that, say, MB or TWOGK had even before their adaptations.

>>90017425
It's definitely not for anime, since most of us don't support the English industry and either pirate anime or import the Japanese releases.

However, it has become quite obvious that the American manga publishers pay attention to what /a/nons read.

It's really not. I'd say the most popular series discussed here are Monster Musume, Punpun and Jojolion. After those three the usual weekly shounen like HxH, Watsmote and Akame Ga Kill. And Junji Ito story times.

THEN Aku no Hana and Witchcraft Works.

Plenty of people who can speak intelligently about directors besides Anno, Miyazaki, and whatever flavor of the month niwakabait director (not that /a/ can even speak intelligently about any of those, or much of anything at all for that matter), people who know animators, who can talk about anime history, who know how TV anime are made (/a/ thinks it does but actually does not), people who actually read and discuss manga, it's not hard to find.

Fractale set the bar for failures. You have bombs that typically reach between 250-800 all the time, like most Noitamina series (NTR Rendezvous was 302), but if Aku no Hana was lower than 100, that's almost a new low. In fact, since the show was clearly striving to be different and anti-moe, it will be remembering for how much of a colossal failure it was financially. Sure, some people think it's genius, but it won't be remembered for that.

Change not the pacing, the voice acting, the backgrounds, the writing, or pretty much anything else; just make it look more like the manga and more normally animated, and they've have SHIT upon Aku no Hana as just another pandering otaku moe uguu series. They only paid it any attention because of HOW it looked.

I really liked the anime series but I wish it could have made it to the proper end.

I doubt it. The art direction changed the tone considerable so that it felt less of a cheap thrill and more theatrical as a result. Had they gone with the original artstyle it would have not been the same.

The problem with a lot of users of /a/ is that they need affirmation of what they like by others. Instead of forming an original opinion, they take one from what they assume to be the majority.

Another major problem is that there are people on here who don't understand the difference between objective and subjective.
>>
worst fanbase
>>
>>90019148
It would. A show can be drastically different just depending on the direction of the artstyle, the rotoscoping actually complemented the slow pacing and the creepy vibe the direction brought something that could not have been done if they used the manga art.
>>
>>90019353
>the rotoscoping actually complemented the slow pacing and the creepy vibe the direction brought something that could not have been done if they used the manga art.

nice way to say it looked like shit.
>>
>>90019204

Except it doesn't. All you have to do is watch the first episode and you'll notice almost everything is different, even some of the designs. But that's still not the point I was trying to make, you stupid fuck.

I don't like the original art style of AnH, but that doesn't mean I hold my opinion to be objectively correct. If someone were to ask me why I don't consider it good, I'd probably give my reasons and that's it. But I wouldn't go into a manga discussion thread to parade around making stupid potato jokes like a 12 year old. For a community that seems to be above others, they're really are making themselves look like Tumblr.

>>90019353

The show's direction was one of it's good points really, it did a nice job of setting the atmosphere and the tone espeically when you compare it to much popular titles like Attack on Titan and Valvrave which were all over the fucking place in terms of direction but I guess the fact that they moved at a breakneck pace made it more durable and exciting for most people.
